A dark and creepy twist excellently offsets a genuinely funny horror short
I really liked this, it surprised me at the end I did not see such a chilling twist in what was a fairly casual comedy short about a manipulative little monster of a girl who is willing to trick the adults around her in order to collect enough money to buy something that she needs, while her parents are upset and worried about her missing sister. It isn't until the final scene that we see how twisted the child really is as she has her sister's dead body stuffed into her closet and has been scamming her way to saving up the money in order to get herself a shovel and bury the evidence, I really liked how much of a dark swing to the left the short film went tonally in a second and it surprised me, I could appreciate that after all the multitudes of movies and short films I've seen over the years. You couldn't possibly see it coming, and I see no harm in spoiling the plot of a six minute or so short horror movie so.. Very well done I thought it was the best short film from the "anthology" Patient Seven, an anthology with a wraparound far better than the short films which make up its content, pretty much thanks to Michael Ironside's menacing acting, he's the best! Well worth checking out!
