- The morning after the previous elimination, the five remaining contestants met host Grant Bowler at the breakfast table. Grant asked them to choose the person who best characterised endurance and tenacity. Although Alan said that it was probably him, he expressed the view that it would be best if he wasn't separated from the women, and as a result, the group chose Linda. The group were told that she would not be participating in the next challenge, and she was sent away from the rest of the group, who were driven to the Gordon Dam in south-western Tasmania and told that they had to abseil down the wall of the dam and retrieve some flags that had been placed on the face of the dam. Two of the flags, both coloured red, were easier to retrieve than the third flag, which was blue. There were three abseils on the wall, two 60 metre drops and a 140 metre drop. Each contestant could only abseil once, and could retrieve only one flag. Each flag was off to one side of the abseil line, so the contestants had to swing out from the wall in order to retrieve them from the face. If the group could retrieve at least two flags, they would win A$10,000 for the kitty.
Jan was the first to drop, and she tried a 60 metre abseil, but was unable to retrieve any of the flags. Alan, the only person in the group who had any previous abseiling experience, also tried a 60 metre abseil, and although he went close to the difficult blue flag, he did succeed in getting one of the red flags. Abby then went next, also attempting a 60 metre abseil, and made a few attempts at one of the flags before finding that she had dropped too far to be able to reach it. Bev made an attempt at the 140 metre abseil. When she reached the bottom of her line, she had to release a rope to the other contestants to swing her towards the flag, but she spun around several times during the swing, which quickly drained her physically and left her unable to retrieve the flag, resulting in failure for the challenge.
Linda was spending the next day in Richmond training with an interrogation expert for a forthcoming challenge. Although she could see cameras following her and the expert, she didn't realise that the other contestants were watching her through closed circuit television. During her visit, she would participate in three scenarios where the group had to predict how she would act in each of them. If the four contestants could correctly predict Linda's behaviour in two of the three scenarios, they would win A$5,000 for the kitty.
The first scenario involved a car whose driver threw a can at Linda's feet as it drove past her. The group predicted that she would pick up the can and throw it away, but she left it on the ground. In the second scenario, Linda and the interrogation expert visited the Richmond Gaol, an abandoned prison where the next challenge would take place, and visited a cell that was popularly believed to be haunted. The group predicted that Linda would step inside the cell, and she did. The final scenario took place during Linda's lunch with the interrogation expert. The group predicted that, based on the time of day, Linda would not order an alcoholic drink with her food, but she did, so the money was lost.
At 12:45AM the next morning, Grant woke up Abby, Alan, Bev and Jan in their rooms in a hotel in Hobart and drove them to Richmond Gaol to put Linda's training from the expert to good use. Her challenge was to discern what challenge the other four contestants had done the previous day. If the rest of the group could keep the information from her until dawn, they would win A$10,000 for the kitty, but if Linda was able to correctly discern the information, the group would not win any money and Linda would receive a free pass to the next episode, which would excuse her from the next computer quiz. If the contestants proved to be good at keeping the information from her, she would have one other chance of winning the free pass by tossing a coin with one of the contestants. If she made the right call on the toss, she would win the free pass, but if her call was wrong, the contestant she was interviewing would win the free pass instead. If any other contestant gave Linda the information, it would cost the group money, but it also allowed them to return to the hotel.
When the four contestants arrived at Richmond Gaol, they were each locked into cells, and were called in one at a time to be interrogated by Linda. The challenge proved to be particularly hard on Abby, who had previously considered Linda to be a close friend, and seemed to suffer the most from the conditions of the prison. A few hours into the interrogation, Linda phoned Grant and was asked by him what the other four contestants had done the previous day. She gave a specific answer that was correct (it was the predictions challenge), winning her the free pass but losing the group more money for the kitty. It was not revealed which other contestant had given Linda the information.
Back at the hotel, the group assembled for the quiz. It had been a very successful series of challenges for the Mole, with no additional money being added to the A$70,000 in the kitty, out of a possible A$145,000. Four of the five contestants sat the quiz, with only Linda and the Mole knowing that they would both be safe from elimination, meaning that one of the three other contestants was about to be eliminated. After the four contestants had all completed the quiz, they met up with each other and Grant again. When Grant typed Bev's name into the computer, the screen came up red, making her the sixth contestant to be eliminated, because she suspected the wrong person of being the Mole.
