- An actress on the peak of her career, Lourdes Colon, was securing guest star roles on hit television series and movies. Always having felt that she was meant to do something greater, make an impact on the world somehow, the rising actress believed that her way of doing so was through the media. As she continued to feel that her purpose had yet to be accomplished she asked the universe through prayer and meditation for the answer and the answer came the day that she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.—Chris LaVoy
- Lourdes Colon was a name in Chicago. She had reached the top of a short list of actresses that were called to do commercials, and print work. After she had landed a lead in a film shot in Illinois she was told by the producers that she had look and the talent to be an A list actress in Hollywood. Lourdes was told that she needed to move to Los Angles if she wanted to take her career to the next level. Lourdes was conquering Hollywood. She had made strides in a short time. Lourdes was on more commercials; guest starred on television shows, and had the lead part in movies. Through all of her success Lourdes still had a nagging feeling that she was meant to do more. She knew that she was supposed to make an impact on this world, she just didnt know how. Lourdes started to experience strange noncategorical symptoms. Exhaustion aches and pains, and strange tumors would come and go. Lourdes finally knew that something was definitely wrong with her when a growth developed on her neck. Though she put off going to see the doctor she knew before anyone that she had cancer. When her friends and family found out that she had cancer it was a devastating shockwave of fear and sorrow. Lourdes had a different thought process. She knew that she was given the opportunity to make a difference for the world. Lourdes decided that she was not only going to cure herself naturally, but she would also document her journey. Lourdes decision divided her friends and family. While she had many that supported her decision, many more loved ones were against her decision. Lourdes husband, Chris and her daughter Anita tried to get Lourdes to do a hybrid approach of chemotherapy and holistic. Lourdes was steadfast in her decision and moved forward with her goal of perfect health through natural means. Lourdes discovered that when it came to treating cancer people do one of three options. Option A is to do exactly as instructed by doctors. In people doing option A Lourdes saw that all faith in healing was placed in the hands of doctors. Option B means to do absolutely nothing. Lourdes found that a surprisingly large sum of people when diagnosed with cancer decide to let the cancer run its course. Lourdes knew there had to be a better way and this is when Option C was conceived. Option C is to do the research, take the fear out of the equation and find out what works best for your body to cure its cancer. One of Lourdes friends told her about a place outside of San Diego called Optimum Health institute. Lourdes discovered what was going to work with her body. Through nutrition and a regiment involving detoxification Lourdes noticed that her body was improving. Tumors started to shrink and her general wellbeing came back. Through creating Option C Lourdes knew that she was going to survive her cancer. In an effort to make sure that every aspect of her recovery was well documented Lourdes decided to undergo another PTCAT scan. Her husband, Chris was against the idea. They both knew that the PTCAT was going to spread her cancer. Lourdes wanted to show this to the world. She wanted to document the scan with an understanding that while the treatment was going to cause more cancer she now understood what was going to help her get back on track. The treatment proved to be more than Lourdes body could handle. Her cancer not only increased, but Lourdes experienced more complications that were unexpected. She developed pneumonia and her body stopped producing red blood cells. The tumors not only returned, but new tumors not present before started to manifest in new places in her body. In an effort to try to get Lourdes back to health again Lourdes went back to Optimum Health Institute. Her husband had to go with her because she had become too weak to be on her own. While they were at the Optimum Health Institute Lourdes got worse. She got to a point where she could no longer eat and her pneumonia had taken a toll on her body. Lourdes met with a doctor in San Diego that had a specialty treatment facility in Mexico that used natural methods to cure cancer that were not legal in the United States. Lourdes and her family were thrilled that they had a means of curing Lourdes naturally. Unfortunately their insurance would not cover the high cost of the treatment. Lourdes friends and family rallied and through fund raisers and social funding Lourdes made enough to get her treatment in Mexico. Lourdes was in Mexico for three weeks and the treatments at the facility were astounding. Lourdes was making her way back to perfect health when a complication from her pneumonia created a new life threatening complication. The constant coughing and enlarged lymph nodes had caused the lining of her chest cavity to wear thin and holes formed. The specialists in Mexico had a cure. Chemotherapy was recommended to seal the hole in the lining of her chest cavity. Lourdes and her husband returned to the United States. Lourdes was continuing her natural treatments at home when her chest cavity filled with fluid again. Another trip to the emergency room offered confirmation that Lourdes needed to undergo chemotherapy. After the first round of chemotherapy Lourdes went into a coma and nearly died. Lourdes finished her chemotherapy, but halted the recommended radiation after complications arose. It was a final trip to Optimum Health Institute that assisted Lourdes to perfect health after the ravages of chemotherapy. In this documentary the story of Lourdes journey is retold through interviews and footage from the various treatments. Lourdes thought that she knew what Option C was going to be but it became a journey that proved what it means to not just survive, but to live in love and life.
