Loosely based on the director's own 41st birthday party, "Dinner at 40" was a labor of love that Carl Byrd collaborated on with screenwriter Peter Macklin. The story touches on the feelings of a gay man turning 40: the panic, the doubt, and the supposed loss of his youth as he spends a "quiet" evening at a restaurant with a small group of his closest friends--and unexpected dinner guests, crazy friends, a hot ex, cocktails, and a drag queen.
