2-Parter Conclusion Uninvolving
amorehl5 March 2024
Okay, watched the second half. I think the first was a bit better, but the second has the advantage of wrapping up the plot threads. But at least I have learned that the boss is John Swift (Henry Ian Cusick). He's been in a number of things, including 'Lost'. And the guy playing 'Boom Boom' (Sharif Atkins), who looked so familiar, was from ER. As someone noted in the trivia section, actor Frederick Koehler, who plays serial killer Henry West, was "Chip" on Kate & Allie. That was a good show. It's nice to see he has lost a fair amount of weight, although he's generally stuck playing baby-faced, whacked-out bad guys. I see they are keeping it open about whether Sam, the guy from NCIS LA (LL Cool J) will be staying on. I just assumed he was, since NCIS LA is no more (I think), and this looks like a pretty good gig. The 2 lesbians are continuing their inappropriate workplace behaviour. Didn't they take their office's mandatory DEI/workplace behaviour training? Or, as members of said "DEI," are they exempt from it? Last, this 2-part season opener was written by 2 of the 3 "creators": Jan Nash & Christopher Silber. Not that that is a noteworthy achievement; the writing on this show, like most shows today, is pretty lame. It doesn't look like they used their time-off while on strike productively.

Crashing and burning the script
erik_alm11 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, maybe it's an ok script.

With one HUGE exception. The airplane stuff.

Large passenger airplanes are not boats (there is such a thing as boat planes (?) planes that can float...) Passenger planes do not float. Sure, one did on the Hudson River, but that plane started to take in water and actually sunk after a while, so no, airplanes are not like boats. (They actually have air intakes in the engines to not just keep the pressure but to add fresh air... you know to remove exhaled carbon dioxide... those intakes starts leaking as soon as the plane splash lands...)

Airplanes also do not have a crash landing protocol that can be hacked. Honestly, it's an affront to the victims of 737 MAX 8 where a protocol did actually crash two planes.

Normal planes do not have such a protocol. They have checklists and possibly memory items for the pilots to perform in case of an emergency landing, but not a computerized function to crash-land the plane. In fact, all systems are there to keep it in the air, and for instance when an Airbus A320 flew into the forest it did so because it would otherwise have stalled and pancaked.

So, no, no crash-landing protocol. Also, if there was one it'd be called an "emergency landing protocol" not a "crash landing protocol"... come on!

It's been said, write what you KNOW not what you DON'T KNOW. This is extra pertinent here. I mean, yeah it takes time to read up on stuff you don't know, but seriously, isn't that what you're paid to do?

It was a struggle to get through this one. And the next one will also feature plane idiocy (using the foot pedals to slow down an airplane in the air...) :((((( ... I guess the same "expert" wrote on that episode too... I'm mentally preparing for the NCIS team to land a helicopter on the moon... I mean, it'd be a trifecta...

Crash and burn and let it burn it self out
mistergphotography20 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
LL Cool J is not going to save this dumpster fire of a series and episode.

The acting is dry and not even remotely engaging.

The cliches are never ending and the acting is horrible.

Dumb and dumber NCIS FBI agents trying to outsmart the computer geeks.

It seems the episodes are just to slow the action scenes are just to stretch out making this to be barely watchable.

So far I am not sure it will go past two episodes even if they try. They need to kill off some of the main characters to jolt any significant change.

Hawaii 5.0 and Magnum PI are way better than this.

Just make it stop let it crash and burn.

Swiss cheese plot. Looney Tunes were more plausible.
Gagarr25 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
1. Large plane floats in the ocean even with a large section of the fuselage blown out.

2. Hawaii coast guard doesn't have helicopters to get to a plane crash to see or prevent the bad guys from the rescue.

3. Plane goes down, but Coast Guard waits for NCIS to arrive before sending any boats out. Then sends 3.

4. Marshall is holding a shotgun but doesn't seem to have done anything with it.

5. NCIS Hawai'i gets jurisdiction on a Marshall service data breach to send agents to Las Vegas without the Marshall service or FBI involved. Writers were obviously smoking weed to think this was plausible.

Could point out many more.

I loved season 1, thought season 2 was good, but season three has gone down hill very fast. Might be my last episode.
