Is the Suits: LA reboot still happening? Suits fans were thrilled last year when NBC announced it would be rebooting the Meghan Markle legal drama after its success on Netflix. But, rumors are swirling that the Suits reboot may have been scrapped since it isn’t on the network’s Fall 2024 TV schedule. Here’s what you need to know about the Suits: LA premiere, keep reading for all the details.
Did NBC Scrap Suits Reboot
NBC’s spring shows are winding down, and several season finales are set to air this month. The network has already unveiled its Fall 2024 primetime schedule, full of returns, reboots, and new projects. But, one series is noticeably missing from the line-up.
Suits fans were certain that the highly anticipated new series, which may or may not include Meghan Markle, would premiere in the Fall and it’s not on the schedule.

Few shows remain relevant following the end of their run, but Suits staged a big comeback last year when the first eight seasons landed on Netflix.
The former USA Network legal drama broke countless streaming records and reignited interest in the franchise.
Recognizing an opening to restart the franchise, NBC put a spinoff — Suits: L.A. — into development.
Despite being billed as a shoo-in for a pickup for the 2024-2025 TV season, it was absent from the recent wave of NBC series orders and the network’s fall 2024 schedule.
Thankfully, the lack of pickup isn’t bad news because NBC has yet to watch the Suits L.A. pilot.
“We’re excited about this. It’s a pilot and we’ll be screening it in June … Assuming that it gets picked up it would be for midseason next year,” NBCUniversal boss Jeff Bader shared this week, according to The Wrap.

A Suits spinoff is coming to NBC, but it didn’t appear on the Fall 2024 schedule. It has some fans worried, and with good reason. There is a chance that the spinoff might not air at all, but that will have to wait until NBC makes its official announcement.
Here is all the recent news and what you need to know about the Suits spinoff and its place on NBC.
Is Suits Spinoff Still Coming To NBC?
A new Suits spinoff series was supposed to be coming to NBC. However, when the network released its Fall 2024 schedule, it was nowhere to be seen. The series is titled Suits: L.A., but there is one problem with the new series. It hasn’t officially received a series order from NBC. NBC dropped some good news to take us into the weekend.
The network unveiled its 2024 fall schedule, highlighting fan-favorite franchise dramas, two nights of laughs, huge unscripted hits and the biggest and best live specials and holiday programming.
If that seems like a mouthful, the details will probably help you see what’s what.
Fall Season
Three new series are set to premiere in the fall, including the drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto and inspired by the true story of a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, Oliver Wolf, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
St. Denis Medical, which stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, and David Alan Grier and is from co-creators Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, brings the laughs with a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where the dedicated doctors...

NBC is keeping its new Suits hanging a while longer.
The network on Friday announced its schedule for the 2024-25 TV season, and the offshoot Suits: L.A. — which has yet to receive a series order — was notably absent from the lineup. However, the pilot is still in contention, with a decision to be made at a later date after execs screen the episode in June. If picked up to series, Suits: L.A. could air midseason or roll over to the 2025-26 season, the network notes.

NBC’s schedule for the 2024-25 season doesn’t look that different from its current lineup: The Voice on Monday and Tuesday nights, the three Chicago dramas on Wednesday and Law & Order shows on Thursday.
It’s a business-as-usual lineup — but after last year’s strikes-affected schedule and the numerous disrpuptions of the pandemic year of 2020-21 still relatively fresh, that’s a good thing.
“Basically, it was just where do we put our sophomore shows and our our new shows on schedule?” Steve Kern, senior vp program planning and scheduling at NBC Entertainment, told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview. “Our wish was to have two comedy blocks on the fall schedule, and we were fortunate to have enough comedies to do it this year.”

NBC has set its fall 2024 schedule, which includes three new series, and a plum new home for “Found” on Thursday nights behind “Law & Order: Svu.”
Among freshman entires, the medical drama “Brilliant Minds,” starring Zachary Quinto, will debut on Mondays at 10 p.m. Et in the choice post-“The Voice” timeslot. The mockumentary comedy series “St. Denis Medical” — set in an Oregon hospital and starring Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman and David Alan Grier — will kick off Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. Both shows had originally been picked up to series in 2023, but their premieres were delayed by the dual Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Elsewhere on the schedule, the new multi-cam comedy “Happy’s Place,” starring Reba McEntire, will kick off Friday nights at 8 p.m., followed by the third season of “Lopez vs Lopez.” The latter show, starring George Lopez, previously aired on Friday nights but had moved to Tuesdays in its second season.

Everyone’s favorite legal drama franchise, Suits, is back with a brand-new spinoff series, Suits: LA, and fans couldn’t be more elated. Albeit the absence of the fan-favorite duo of dapper hunks Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J.Adams) — who carried the weight of the show on their perfectly broad shoulders — the fresh faces and exciting new storylines showcase immense potential to leave you just as hooked as the original. Suits also released another spinoff, Pearson, based on Gina Torres’s character, which was canceled after ten episodes. Although Suits: LA will be set in the same universe, it

Suits, a long-running mainstay on cable’s USA Network that became a streaming phenomenon last year, will make its broadcast debut this fall on MyNetwork TV.
The show’s slot in Fox’s Monday-through-Friday syndicated programming block, which reaches 97% of U.S. TV homes, will mark the first time it will be available on free television. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
The legal drama, which premiered on USA Network in 2011, became a streaming phenomenon when it landed on Netflix and NBCUniversal’s Peacock in 2023. Even though the Netflix run was non-exclusive (the show’s full nine seasons can only be streamed on Peacock), it racked up viewing minutes in the tens of billions and broke a number of Nielsen records. The surge of interest led to NBCU and creator Aaron Korsh to plot out an entire Suits universe, with new iteration Suits: L.A. landing a pilot order last February.

After setting streaming records for months on end last year, Suits is heading to a new — or rather, old — frontier: broadcast syndication.
The former USA Network series will make its over-the-air debut in the fall on the Fox-owned MyNetwork TV programming service. All nine seasons (134 episodes in total) will be available via the service, which covers about 97 percent of TV homes in the United States.
“It’s become increasingly more difficult, if not impossible, to launch obscure product on broadcast TV,” said Frank Cicha, executive vp programming for Fox Televsion Stations. “Suits is arguably the most buzzworthy scripted series of the last half decade, and MyNet looks forward to amplifying its success by introducing it to the broadcast television audience. We’re discussing some fun ways to do just that.”

Exclusive: First in a series on broadcast network series renewals. NBC is well ahead of the game this season on the renewal-decision front, handing early pickups to freshman dramas Found and The Irrational as well as One Chicago, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu while canceling Quantum Leap, La Brea and Magnum Pi.
That leaves just a headful of shows on the bubble, mostly on the comedy side. The one drama series still waiting to hear its fate is Law & Order: Organized Crime. It’s always been an outlier, a departure from the Dick Wolf procedural brand with its darker and serialized storytelling. Possibly as a result, the series starring Christopher Meloni has performed below the five other Wolf dramas on the linear NBC network, while it has reportedly done well on Peacock.

Heels might be headed back to the ring.
The drama, which was unceremoniously canceled along with a couple more series as Starz cleaned house in September, has been licensed to Netflix by Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution. With the acquisition, Netflix will have non-exclusive rights to the two-season, 16-episode library of the wrestling drama starring Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings).
Sources also note that while Netflix has not renewed the series, the streamer could wind up doing so should Heels perform well on the platform. Those same sources also caution that a third season, even in success, could still be a logistical challenge. Amell — a die-hard wrestling fan who often would perform his own stunts on Heels — signed on in February as the lead in NBC’s highly anticipated spinoff of Suits. The offshoot of the former USA Network original is one of but five pilots in the works at NBC.

Judd Apatow was not happy with Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision last year to license a handful of HBO original series to Netflix. Many shows including Insecure, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under, and Ballers were licensed to the streaming platform. However, X-Men writer Zack Stentz couldn’t agree with Apatow’s views.

The New Amsterdam universe could expand; this time, a familiar face will be at the wheel.
Deadline reports that a sequel series has entered development at NBC, a year after the original series wrapped its five-season run.
The project would center on Dr. Max Goodwin’s (Ryan Eggold) daughter, Luna Goodwin.
At the time of the series finale in January 2023, there were no plans to keep the franchise alive. Still, the episode did introduce a tag for a sequel in the form of an adult Luna (Molly Griggs) taking over her father’s role as Medical Director of New Amsterdam Hospital.
Now, it seems NBC is interested in making New Amsterdam: Tomorrow a reality. The key difference from the original is that it would be set in the future.

When cousins Robbie and Stephen Amell teamed with filmmakers Jeff Chan and Chris Paré in 2016, on the short film Code 8, they had little concept for the journey that laid ahead of them, which would see them build their own successful sci-fi franchise from the ground up.
After self-financing the 10-minute film and watching it garner over 7 million views on YouTube, the team moved to crowdfund a Code 8 feature via Indiegogo, far surpassing their goal at a take exceeding $2.5Mm. When the film debuted on Netflix at peak Covid, in April 2020 — four months after hitting theaters and VOD — it achieved such strong viewership that Netflix moved to finance a sequel itself, one that would mark the service’s first original English-language Canadian feature. It debuted at #1 on its English-Language Films chart for the week of February 26 and brought the original film atop the charts once more, at #4.

The Suits L.A. cast has released another name, and this person was recently seen on Chicago Fire.
Actor Troy Winbush has been added to the Suits L.A. cast, fleshing out another character the show will focus on.
Suits L.A. is being referred to as a brand extension because it will continue the timeline of stories told on Suits.
This new show isn’t exactly a spin-off because it won’t focus on characters that originally appeared on Suits. But it does open the doors for people to return.
Filming for a pilot episode for Suits L.A. will reportedly begin in April, with some recognizable names attached to the project.
It’s clear that the streaming success Suits has found on Netflix has led to this moment, and it may spur additional interest in Suits L.A.

NBC has given a series order to “The Hunting Party,” a high-concept crime procedural from JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn, with both serving as executive producers, writers and co-showrunners.
Created by Bailey, who also wrote the pilot script, “The Hunting Party” follows a small team of investigators who work together to track down and capture the most dangerous killers the country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.
Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio behind the series, which isn’t surprising as Bailey has an overall deal there while Coburn has a first-look deal.
The order for “The Hunting Party” comes as NBC has already ordered three other pilots for next season, including “Suits: LA,” an untitled Reba McEntire-led comedy and more recently, a pilot for “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.

We have more intriguing casting news for one of the most highly anticipated series of 2024.
From the moment NBC began developing Suits: LA, fans of the original series have been clamoring for updates about the spinoff.
And some of the information about the cast has received a very mixed response.
But we think this latest report won't be as controversial as some of the news that preceded it.
According to a new report from Variety, Lex Scott Davis is the latest addition to the cast.
Though perhaps not a household name, Davis has an extensive and impressive resume, highlighted by her work in The First Purge, her performance as Toni Braxton in the biopic Unbreak My Heart and her roles on the TV series Training Day and The L Word: Generation Q.
Davis has been cast as Erica Rollins, whom producers describe as “a savvy and strong-willed rising star.

Another well-known star is joining 2024's most highly anticipated spinoff!
It was announced today that Walking Dead regular Josh McDermitt has been cast on Suits: LA.
McDermitt, who started out as a standup comic, played Eugene Porter on 85 episodes of the long-running AMC drama.
He joins Arrow star Stephen Amell, who was previously announced as one of the series leads.
As we discussed earlier this week, the casting of Suits: LA has elicited a mixed reaction on social media.
To put it bluntly, some fans are not happy with the idea that the show will be structured around Amell's character.
According to press releases, Amell will play Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who moves to LA to start his own firm, Black Lane Law, specializing in criminal and entertainment law.
Obviously, the intersection of those two areas of the law will make for countless story opportunities.

Editor’s note: Deadline is launching a new series, Hollywood Contraction, which examines the toll the job losses caused by the ongoing industrywide cost-cutting has had on different sections of the entertainment community, starting with actors.
Most of the college-bound aspiring actors from the high school class of 2020 received their acceptance letters in the first days of the pandemic. Following this notable spike in its numbers that left fans craving for more, NBC has now greenlit the first spin-off to the original show, which will star Arrow actor Stephen Amell in the lead.
But considering Amell infamously deemed the SAG-AFTRA strike a reductive tactic, stating that the whole situation was frustrating, some were taken aback by NBC’s decision to have Amell lead Suits: L.A. Reflecting on this surprising casting, Industry Insider Jeff Sneider, alongside John Rocha, touched on the possible reasoning behind NBC’s decision.

Once upon a time before she married a prince, Meghan Markle was a working actor who starred in the legal drama Suits. The now-duchess played Rachel Zane on the series from 2011 to 2018. Meghan left the show before her royal wedding to Prince Harry, an affair that her Suits co-stars attended.
The show had a resurgence in 2023 when it became available on the streaming platforms Netflix and Peacock. And now, there’s even a new reboot in the works titled Suits: LA. Because of that, there’s been speculation about whether Harry’s wife or any of her castmates will make a cameo in the new series. Meghan’s former co-stars haven’t had any contact with her though, and one even admitted he’s “scared” to talk to her now. Here’s more on that.

NBC is adding to its pilot roster with a drama from Good Girls executive producers Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.
Like Good Girls, the new project from the pair, titled Grosse Pointe Garden Society, will focus on a group of women caught up in a crime — murder, in this case. The show’s logline reads, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.”
The pilot is the second at NBC in as many years for Bans and Krebs. In 2023 the network ordered a pilot from the pair for a Murder, She Wrote-esque mystery drama starring Good Girls lead Retta, but it ended up not moving forward. The two first worked together on ABC’s 2016 drama The Family before teaming on Good Girls, which ran for four seasons on NBC...
