Plot; An elite team is selected for a micro-miniaturization program that shrinks them down for up to 12 hours.

Based on the 1966 film of the same name, this Filmation series takes that basic concept and, uh, expands on it. Here they're re-branded the Combined Miniature Defense Force or C.M.D.F. (no clever acronyms here!). Operating under the authority of a nebulous international organization staffed strictly with Americans, they're shrunk down and sent on missions to "Combat the unseen, unsuspected enemies of freedom.". Yo, Jo-- Oh, wait.

The team is made up of four people; Commander Jonathan Kidd (voiced by the late, great Ted Knight), a Nick Fury clone and de facto leader, Erica Lane, a renowned biologist, nerdy scientist and creator of the Voyager ship and miniaturization technology Busby Birdwell, and the mysterious Guru, a master of mystical powers. I had a good chuckle when the computer selected Erica Lane for the team and the crusty head of C.M.F.D. exclaimed "A woman?!?!". Guru is a tad problematic from our "enlightened" 21st century perch. Kudos for the diversity (It's never specified, but given that he wears a turban and is found meditating in the Himalayas, I take Guru to be Indian/Sikh), but his stoic mystical mumbo jumbo is a tad cringeworthy.

The show itself has that groovy 60s vibe, and the animation is actually pretty good. If it's all a little stiff, it makes up for it by being colorful and totally lacking irony.
