The Lost Arc & New Beginnings
annahuffstutler12 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For a couple that just survived a capsized cruise ship, you would think Bobby and Athena would act like the experience happened. However, we aren't seeing much of either of them right now. I'm hoping that changes soon.

Looking at this episode, the opening emergency was hilarious. I laughed until I almost cried watching it. The entire 118 did a great job keeping their composure. However, it feels like the show has moved away from having multiple emergencies per episode.

The storyline with Hen and. Karen taking in this young girl is fantastic. I have a feeling we'll see more of it going forward.

How low can it sink

Warning: Spoilers
How can you take this show serious if they just switch storylines between characters/actors? Without caring about it making sense and be believable.

It shows that this storyline wasn't supposed to be Buck's. He's so out of place there. Zero chemistry between Buck and Tommy. Tommy showing zero interest in Buck the whole episode 4 and instead wooing Eddie. Buck being jealous because he thought he was loosing his best friend and NOT because he's having a crush on Tommy. And now it turns out it was supposed to be Eddie and Tommy originally and they made the switch to Buck and Tommy last minute. Of course it looks like it came out of nowhere because it literally came out of nowhere. It was Eddie's arc that the actor turned down and they simply gave it to the other, just because they needed the 100th episode to have that plot although it makes zero sense for Buck. And now Buck, the character with abandonment and self-worth issues, is seeking a person's attention that didn't show the slightest interest in him the whole episode and was wooing Eddie because that's how it was written originally. Buck is being dumped by Tommy and starts chasing him and is apologizing to him and invites him to his sister's wedding??! What a disservice to Buck. Growth? Self-worth? Thrown out the window because they had to force this story on Buck after the other actor turned it down. Zero quality, zero credibility. Release Buck out of this nightmare. He wasn't supposed to end up there. It's not his story.

"I'm An Ally"

This is the first episode in a while that I decided to watch entirely live. I think many would agree that Buck's direction has made the show more interesting and engaging. Interestingly, from what I have seen in general, even those who don't like the "change" are still investing their energy into engaging with it.

As already seen in the promo, Buck went on a 'first date with a dude.' It went about as smoothly as anyone would expect. Awkward at times, a bit cringey at times, but real to what many people in their 'first date with a dude' would feel. Nice acting performance from everyone involved.

Classic Fun 9-1-1 episode
agentsofsword12 April 2024
It felt like I was watching an early season of 9-1-1 like season 1, 2, or 3. This was a fun episode despite of what Buddie fans say because they always set themselves up for disappointment by expecting way too much drived by their delusion.

We got 3 storylines HenRen, Buck, and Eddie. Surprisingly all of them we're great because we got this domestic heartwarming family story with HenRen. Buck figuring himself out and coming out to the closest people he knows. Eddie's storyline was so random but hilarious it was so unhinged.

I may not be the biggest fan of Marisol but I'm glad they explained Eddie's obsession with moving too fast with his relationships. That was an explanation that was long overdue.

Buck was the highlight of this episode once again. Oliver Stark never fails to play him so pathetic and yet such a loveable being. As a fellow bisexual his scenes with Maddie and Eddie warmed my heart. Honestly, rooting for Tommy!! I would love to see more of them so we can explore Buck's journey.

I'm a buddie fan but we need to let Eddie and Buck figure themselves out before putting them in a serious relationship. They've spent 6 years building this friendship they're approaching it in a safe way. I know most buddie fans can't wait but it'll be worth it.

Warning: Spoilers
This show just did the entire world a huge favor, at least those who watch it anyway. I have never needed any help figuring out who I am and have never not been totally fine with it but I have encountered a disgusting amount of men along the way who cannot or will not say the same. This episode should have happened long ago and it is about time the creators finally got this show on equal ground with its sister show which up until now was way more consistent with reality than this show was. Hopefully that stays in the past and hopefully this direction is not abandoned because this show just became much more worth watching. Thank you for that.

Whoa

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, this episode made me laugh so hard. Poor Eddie in that first emergency. 🚨

Secondly, I love Buck's continuing storyline here. The first date was disastrous, but I couldn't imagine things going super smoothly when his world was legit flipped upside down with a kiss and he's still trying to figure it out. I'm glad Tommy wasn't horrible about i, and that he was willing to give it another go. I think Buck needs someone like him to navigate his newly discovered sexuality. I'm also so happy with the coming out scenes with Maddie and Eddie. Both were beautifully done. I can't wait to see where this goes. I know where I am hoping it goes 😉, but I will be patient and enjoy the ride regardless.

Eddie's newly activated Catholic guilt was both understandable and amusing. I'm not sure about Marisol though. I feel like we as an audience don't really know her and I guess that makes sense with how Eddie acknowledged that he tends to move too fast. I think it's a good thing for him to be pumping the brakes a bit. They need to really get to know each other. Looking forward to seeing how it all works out for him.

Lastly HenRen's growing family! I'm so excited for them finally being able to add to their home. I like that they're getting to help this child in the process. It means so much to show how older children need to be loved and wanted too. I was a bit worried for a minute, but I knew they'd make the right decision and figure it out. They're kinda wonderful like that.

All in all, I really loved this episode. Can't wait for the next one!

Disappointing and confusing
elysiumnotes13 April 2024
Honestly this episode was kinda disappointing after such an amazing 4 episodes. The amount of whiplash I felt was truly record breaking.

It's clear that the only story and well-thought out plot was the HenRen family storyline, which I loved, but it's clear it belonged in the previous episode. I also do NOT appreciate the comparison of a traumatized black girl to a stupid dog. Who the hell thought that was ok?!

Another pick, was Eddie & Marisol. They need to break up. I hate her, we barely seen her or their relationship, and she's played by a bigoted actress who should not be kept on a show all about inclusion and love.

Who's dumb idea was it to have a war veteran with a minor child let their barely 2 months girlfriend move in with them while said son is away for a couple days. Especially after a previous episode where it was discussed that said son was having issues with the death of his mother and other girls/women in his life?!?!

All in all pretty disappointing. The little prelude to the Madney wedding was fun and I can't wait to see the hijinks that occur. Please Chim, be ok, at least for Maddie's sake. Lol.

Marinun- that's it!👎

Warning: Spoilers
You guys have been great this season. Writers so polished & pulled together. WTHH???

Loved: Buck's idiot moment at the restaurant- normal for spooled up Buck. This guy acts like a rookie log roller - how fast can I fall - when in new tough personal situations. This was a normal response for him. How much of my foot can I get in my mouth. If I could give a separate 10 - it would be to Lou /Tommy. Well written and superbly acted. PLEASE CAN WE KEEP HIM??? Love his demeanor, as a pilot I can recognize his decisive assured actions with a side of big tender heart. Whether he stays with Buck for awhile or not - his vibe is needed by this show. He brings a calmness to a scene that prevails even in the midst of chaos by others. Besides he can bring a new element for your first responders - aviation! Rescues, fire spotting/ suppression!! Fresh meat for your writers! Lou is a breath of fresh air needed 7 seasons in!! He adds a maturity to the show besides Father Bobby. Go Lou! Wardrobe- please remove brown shirts from his rack! That is not his color on screen!

Eddie's quick response & acceptance was a blessing for Bucks soul!!

Buck & Maddie's talk was great. Yeah Sure Every presumed straight guy checks out hot guys asses. Thats a clue about his "sudden" bi-ness. - NOT!

JLH needs to be included in more comedic scenes. She delivers better than anyone on that show, the facial features and line delivery for funny - light scenes. Lucy had nothing on her!!

The scene with Bucks nerves under control with Tommy - perfect! Lou again brings about that peace & calmness and enables Oliver to reveal his true thoughts. Great moments!!

Henren had a big moment and came through just like we knew they would. Not sure we needed the canine comparison - not quite the same but meh. Glad they showed the breakthrough so quickly. That could have gotten tedious over several episodes.

Disgusting: Now to the real problem. The Eddie Marinun arc is beyond help. What long term watcher buys any of this BS. Who let KR back in the writers room? Such tripe! Does Eddie even know her last name?? At this point nobody cares. He asks this giggly child (how she acts) to move in with him - no Chris talk , No"I love you's!" This can't be blamed on Eddie's "Ready-Fire-Aim" habit - just a pathetic plot to keep our minds off Buddie? Ana was around for months and she never got the move in invite. Who are you kidding?!? And using such a limited actress. Best scene was Eddie's hallucination- going to be seeing lots more of that scene repeated all over SM.

This was more evidence of KRs " She works cheap" reasoning from last season. Please. Make her go find an ex priest and live happily ever after. I hate having to fast forward through all Eddie's scenes with her. Bobby's line about "making her ex mad" was the best part of his counseling with Eddie. The other scenes ruined the entire 42 minutes. And will every time she or the subject shows up. Writers & Tim- please fix this debacle. This season has been too good to allow this arc to ruin the season for us!
