Universal may hang on to their star director Justin Lin, who has delivered and then some with the multi-ethnic 'Fast & Furious' series (5 & 6 delivered $628 and 788 million worldwide respectively). They discussing giving him their franchise plum: the next 'Bourne' installment. The studio is still developing the script with Anthony Peckham with producers Frank Marshall and Ben Smith. Lin is weighing projects, possibly “Runner” at Warner Bros., Imagine's “L.A. Riots" or Universal's recently acquired "Section 6." According to Variety, Jeremy Renner, who starred in writer-director Tony Gilroy's reboot "Bourne Legacy" ($275 million worldwide), is expected to return to the franchise, which has lost some of its luster since the departure of original Bourne Matt Damon and filmmaker Paul Greengrass.
