A brilliant satire of the modern Turkish society
serhatderenoglu1 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
As the plot summary states, the film is about the search of Oflu Hodja; a saintly but foul-mouthed Muslim imam with supernatural powers who works miracles, supports nuclear fusion (?) and condemns all kinds of authority.

A saintly, anarchist imam who supports nuclear fusion is a deep irony from the beginning. In summary the film is a deep satire of the modern Turkish society.

The film is shot in mockumentary format. Directing and acting is very good. The plot is brilliant. Although i am not a techno fan I loved the music especially the one in the magic mushroom trip sequence.

In general the humor structure is based on very realistic reactions of extremely absurd actions. What ever happens, no matter how improbable and tripe the film keeps it's logical structure and seriousness which puts the film into the category of high quality, intelligent comedy. In this context the film is criticizing sophists and their fallacies without falling into any fallacy. This is important because Turkish society suffers from all types of fallacies and sophists ever since it has existed.

The only fundamental drawback of the film is the incoherence of the camera usage and the lack of true cinematography. Even a mockumentary needs a true cinematography. But these cons does not throw the film off the track.

Besides it's sharp social and political criticism, this film is a brilliant and original comedy which exceeds the perception and discernment limits of even above average Turkish audience.

I give 8 stars for the movie and an extra 1 star for the braveness of the producers.
