I think this is a beautiful love story and development of a new land by Kim Soo Ro
bilalkamaran11 December 2020
I really liked Kim Soo Ro (the Iron King) I think it is my 4th favorite Saguk <3 The story is about a man who was basically "taken" at birth - he lived believing someone else was his parents - while people fight him and his "different values" he fights back.

Cast: Ji Sung (Kim Soo Ro) I liked him a lot, I loved how he viewed things and how his beliefs never seemed to waver - he also had a strong sense of loyalty for one woman. there are two women in his life - one I didn't like (you'd find out later by watching the drama why she isn't acceptable) and the other woman who was always silently by his side (who I loved a lot) - I thought the romance between them was beautiful (even if it did get a late start by him - hers came early on). Music: usual Saguk music - I can't really remember as it has been awhile since I've watched this drama now... Re-watch Value: I really want to re-watch this drama at some point -

The Iron King K-Drama
vorht8 December 2022
I a USA Citizen (not Korean). My TV package has a network that runs K- Dramas one or two at time. USA Hollywood lost the art of story telling. Just finished watching The Iron King. Thought this drama Fantastic and give high marks. The sets, the plots, the scenery, dress, fighting right balance down with skill + not overly gory. Love scene not explicit. All actors just perfect for parts all very believable. Liked that in real life there was a King Suro who actually met his wife from India. The sets alone high marks. Liked the quiet + passive rapport between Hwang-Ok and Su-Ro thus even though I have not been a love story guy their passivity and quietness portrayed that silent extra perception type of communication that happens between male + female who are truly in love which is welcoming change of pace from Hollywood now overly portraying woman in gruff demeanor as if rough and tough like some men. Ten Thumbs up to the Korean movie makers. Once again Loved it. PS: Hard to remember a Hollywood series where I could not wait to see the next episode,

Could have been better...
Park_Min5 October 2023
It was a seriously bad decision to show a battle as an introduction to the drama. Slow movement, bad choreography, extreme camera shaking to cover the extras' performance in the background and post production ugly blood splatter. It was clear the drama wasn't going in that direction, there was barely any fights after that. Aside from that, the drama had its issues with the writing. That can range from unnatural flow, disjointed pace, inconsistencies, and a poor transition/development of the characters. Soo Ro going into politics and a position of power was the worst direction to the character. It's outside the scope of his character and always came off as a child playing politics. The drama handled death poorly, whenever someone died you don't feel the impact and weight of their death. It's almost irrelevant after the next episode. The same can be said about the entire situation with the love interests the drama had. Which also featured questionable chemistry between anyone and everyone. With all that being said, at least the cast was decent (and you had a couple of shirtless Ji Sung scenes) to keep you distract for a hot minute.
