Intriguing premise and strong performances
Anmer9328 July 2019
This is an excellent idea for a series, with an intriguing premise, strong performances and a vast representation of characters from a number of cultures, social and economical backgrounds. This show delves deep into its subject matter and does it really well.

Interesting premise. I was only going to watch one episode but ended up watching them all. I recommend this to anyone you is looking for something different. Good acting and great production values.

Binge Worthy and Unique
mentalrev19 June 2019
I'm really enjoying this series and hope there is a second season. It's an intriguing premise with a diverse and interesting cast of characters. The episodes are pretty short, but they suck you and quickly you can watch 4 or 5 without even noticing, very binge worthy.

The locations, lighting, music, sound and cinematography are all top notch. It's cool watching a story that takes place, at least for the viewer, all over the world, would be curious where the filmmakers shot the film, because the footage in Bangladesh looks as authentic as the footage in France. The story sucks you and keeps you guessing. Highly recommend.

Interesting idea, not terribly watchable.
keithnicholas-725129 June 2020
I watched a number episodes (each of which is quite short ~ 15 mins), but the production quality, script, and acting is very low quality. I found the characters quite unrealistic. It's like watching amateur film making, can be intriguing, but you'd have to be in the right mood for it. I gave up in the end as it felt a little too painful to watch.

On a positive note, each episode is short, so if you are curious, you'll quickly find out if it's something you want to watch till the end

A promising premise...
emailgrant21 May 2019
I watched 7 episodes of this series based on the premise. I found the plot engaging, but the acting, dialogue and sound uneven, which put a dent in the rating I gave it. They shot it completely digital, which in some cases has come a long way since I shot in the medium, and it definitely looks better than anything I've ever done. Making a GOOD film or television series is harder than most can imagine, and I salute all involved for what you've accomplished - you got your stuff on Amazon! That said, I wouldn't be honest if I was to give it a 7,8, etc., and my guess is that most of the makers feel the same. I hope you can all use this as a stepping stone and learning experience for your next project, and realize your full potential in the process.

This series is so much fun
craigahrens10 May 2019
I'm nearing completion of watching Season 2 (about to watch "Neha's Other Man"). Oh my goodness this series is good. I found myself binge watching which i never do, ha-ha. But the stories are rich, characters full & well developed and the episodes move along at a good clip. I was very pleased when I was well into Season 1 and discovered there were "2" more Seasons to enjoy. I'm sure Season 4 will be picked up someone large but for now I'll keep enjoying A Billion to One on Amazon Prime.

This is a well acted, well made series with an interesting premise. The characters are relatable and original, and the story is served up in compelling bit-sized episodes. I want to see more.

What would you do to win a billion dollars?
jason-scepter29 September 2019
A Billion to One is a TV series has an intriguing hook. It's about a dying billionaire who's looking for someone to inherit his entire fortune. A cool $82 billion. Each episode has a unique story but is woven together with the same thread: the money and everyone wanting a shot it at.

Great concept
Graham-joey6 April 2019
High concept low budget high impact drama here. Basically...a billionaire is dying, and as he has no heirs he decides to 'Willy Wonka' his money away...though this is not for kids! And def no singing. If you're a fan of TNT or television dramas I think you will love this. It does a great job of including people from all walks of life and feels very inclusive. It even adopts different cinematic styles for various locations that it takes place in. Solid stuff.

This is an intriguing show that will make you want to watch episodes on end. I really enjoy the short episodic format as you can watch it while commuting( on the phone) or if you have only a short time for TV The international multiplot story gives it a solid and engaging story arc

Mysterious and Impressive
TheAll-SeeingI25 February 2019
It's not hard to imagine A Billion to One's creator Marty Shea once upon a time quick-pitching his series concept to a stunned but enthralled silence of investors: "Rumors have leaked over the Internet that American multi-billionaire Leo Richter is dying and looking for a single person to inherit his massive $82 billion fortune." Simple, specific, intriguing, and it lends itself to a storytelling engine in which the wheel doesn't need to be reinvented with every new episode. Sold!

Now here on screen, we see that idea expertly brought to fruition. A Billion to One lives up to its conceptual possibilities by exhibiting all the markings of the kind of episodic storytelling that sucks us in and demands its own binge-consumption. The actors demonstrate a haunted inwardness that perfectly suits this mysterious underworld. Drama and gravitas is built with spellbinding music that makes no effort to hide itself in the mix. And the choices made in the cinematography are seamless, and reflective of the sparse but elegant needs of these often dream-like scenes.

Because we all long for comparisons, A Billion to One evokes an early X-Files, yet with a distinctively European flair. There's a quietness to much of it that naturally evokes intrigue; a gorgeous use of space and a commitment to bare-bones dialogue that wonderfully serves the story. This is one to watch now, and into the future as it evolves.

I was hooked from the beginning
JGReviews15 March 2019
A Billion to One is a series about a rumor gone wild about a dying billionaire who is going to give away his money to the right person. Tons of people around the world respond and hope that they will be chosen to inherit the gigantic financial prize. Soon questions emerge about the authenticity of this generous offer and whether someone is orchestrating a hoax. It's a great hook and an ideal setup for a series. The episodes are short, which is great for me since I don't always have time to watch an entire 2 hour feature in one sitting. There's also an incredible amount of production value in A Billion to One, as we get to see different characters' stories filmed all over the world. It's actually really cool to see different scenes in so many different countries. I'd highly recommend A Billion to One for anyone searching for a great new show to watch!

An absolutely compelling story about the lengths that people will go to for money that deserves this type of long-form treatment. Great production values, great writing and directing. You'll blow through these episodes in no time!

A smart, savvy, compelling, and culturally rich series
MariaAllred10 April 2019
This was a great gem to stumble upon. I watched all 13 episodes of the first season in one viewing. The episodes are compact and pithy. The central theme of a contest to win billions is used brilliantly as a device to weave together stories from around the world. Each story feels authentic and true to the culture in which it exists. The drive for cold hard cash quickly leads into much more poignant topics of passion, survival, sexuality, homelessness, sex-trafficking, free-will or the lack thereof, relationships, trust, and death. No stone is unturned in this ambitious drama, which not only reaches far, but does so with humor, verve, and excellent production value. Great writing, excellent performances, and wonderful views into cultures from around the world, and the themes that unify us all.
