The idea for the script stems from the film's first location. The filmmakers were inspired by a property rental and equipment lighting house and felt that the set dressed itself. It was one of the many ways to cut costs on the film.
The film is funded mainly through a Kickstarter campaign, in which the video used to raise funds took several weeks to produce. The filmmakers shot at an abandoned mental institution to create a teaser that is placed at the beginning of the Kickstarter video.
