Proving that original spec scripts can still occasionally get you somewhere in this world of already-existing properties, writer Brian Duffield recently sparked a studio bidding war for his buzzy screenplay The Babysitter. New Line won, and Joseph McGinty "McG" Nichol (Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation) was initially only going to produce, until he decided he liked it so much he was going to direct too. And he now has his lead actress, in the form of Samara Weaving. If that name isn't familiar, it might be soon. Weaving is an Aussie actress and model (and Hugo Weaving's niece) who escaped Home & Away and Out Of The Blue and will shortly be seen in roles of varying sizes in the upcoming movies Bad Girl, Monster Trucks and Before Dawn. Variety say she's also starring with Bruce Campbell in the TV series Ash Vs Evil Dead, although that information doesn't seem to appear anywhere else yet.

Former Home and Away stars Samara Weaving and Marcus Graham will begin shooting Before Dawn next month.
The horror movie follows a family in a small country town who must fight against a horde of bloodthirsty infected people in the area, reports the Herald Sun.
Weaving will star as Grace, with Graham playing her father David.
Georgia Chara, William Emmons and Nick Britton have also signed up to appear in the film.
Weaving previously played Indigo Walker for four years on Home and Away, before leaving last year to start a "more versatile career".
"It's exciting," she said at the time. "I get to travel and do things that I've been thinking of for a while."
Meanwhile, Graham recently quit the Australian soap after two and a half years playing Harvey Ryan.
The actor said that his character's exit from Summer Bay is sad, explaining: "Marriages don't tend to last that long these days.
