Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now so close we can almost feel the crackle of energy emanating from Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber.
Yes, December 15th is almost upon us, and in an attempt to gauge the sequel’s success, THR has now compiled a report claiming The Last Jedi will clear $425 million worldwide by Sunday, December 17th, when it’ll presumably enter Hollywood’s pantheon as one of the five best global openings of all time – not accounting for inflation, of course.
That estimated cume also factors in The Last Jedi‘s performance in North America, where the Rian Johnson-directed sequel is expected to score a $200 million-plus haul and become the biggest domestic opening of 2017, easily leap-frogging Beauty and the Beast ($178 million).
But by the time Star Wars: The Last Jedi reaches these shores, Lucasfilm’s star-studded juggernaut will already be riding high thanks to its staggered,...

If there’s one recurring theme of the Star Wars saga, it’s the tricky transition between adolescence and adulthood.
At least, that’s according to Rian Johnson, the writer-director orchestrating Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Three months out from the sequel’s long-anticipated theatrical release, and Johnson has turned in some new story intel via Empire – no, not that one – regarding Kylo Ren, Adam Driver’s mercurial baddie who was last seen nursing a facial scar aboard Starkiller Base.
Summoned by Supreme Leader Snoke alongside the returning General Hux, we can only assume that The Last Jedi will begin with all three villains on board the Supremacy, an impossibly large Star Destroyer spanning 60km in length. It’s ground zero for the First Order, which will be packing some serious heat by the time Rian Johnson’s sequel lights up theaters in December. Speaking of which, during that chat with Empire,...

The best damn pilot in the galaxy just got a little faster.
Following up on today’s shimmering cover reveal, Empire – the magazine, not the intergalactic fascist government – has posted a screenshot of Poe Dameron’s souped-up X-Wing as it’ll appear in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Bearing the codename Black One (a subtle nod to Rogue One, perhaps?), the vessel has been specially modified by Resistance engineers so that Oscar Isaac’s pilot is able to call upon a temporary boost when the going gets tough.
Chances are the Black One (Aka Incom-FreiTek T-70) will fire up that thruster to evade incoming fire from a nearby Star Destroyer, such as the one depicted in Empire’s exclusive action shot. There’s also the threat of the First Order’s Supremacy, a super-sized command center that is said to be home of Supreme Leader Snoke. Truth be told, Andy Serkis...

We’ve had an adorable raft of concept art for little Baby Groot (see above) and chatter of a sixth, mysterious post-credits scene, but the latest Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 tidbit circles back to the sequel’s genesis to reveal an alternate design for Mantis, Pom Klementieff’s socially oblivious clairvoyant.
Raised under the looming shadow of Ego, the Living Planet – Kurt Russell plays the humanoid version of said deity – Mantis turns out to be a welcome addition to the fold, and her dynamic with Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is arguably one of the film’s many highlights.
But now that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is playing in theaters across the globe (our review), Screen Rant has uncovered a new piece of concept...
