The film was based on a stage play popular in Utah and produced disastrously in Kansas City and on Broadway. The play was based on a novel by popular Mormon authority Orson Whitney.
The films director has been working only as an actor since 1924 when he took the job.
The film was to be one of the first in Technicolor until funding dried up after the stockmarket crash of 1929.
The famous organ of the Salt Lake City Tabernacle can be seen in one of the films final scenes underlaid beneath the action.
