The closer we get to the premiere of Justice League, the lighter the tone of its trailers seem to be. Case-in-point: the Flash’s goofy grin in the newest Justice League TV spot. Like yesterday’s featurette, the new Justice League clip emphasizes the team’s chemistry, as well as their individual prowesses as superheroes (after all, they each have their own upcoming […]

The closer we get to Star Wars: The Last Jedi the more information and images leak out to the internet. The latest batch of leaks come as a collection of promotional images that highlight many of the film’s principal characters, including Supreme Leader Snoke and Luke Skywalker. Ahead of September’s Force Friday II products, fans have already been able to decipher potential story lines and rumors based on the toys that will be available.
Then today a batch of behind-the-scenes promo photos of the heroes and villains leaked showcasing everyone from Rey to Snoke’s elite (and very red) praetorian guards.
The photos first appeared on the Twitter account Star Wars Stuff, and from the sound of it, they were not planned to be released as part of advertising right now. You can check out all the pictures for yourself below (Possible Spoilers):

The closer we get to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi this December, the more Jj Abrams’ achievement on The Force Awakens begins to crystallize. That cliffhanging final scene – with Daisy Ridley’s Rey reaching out to a mute, disbelieving Luke Skywalker on the remote planet of Ahch-To – left Rian Johnson with the perfect platform to go deeper into the new Star Wars galaxy in part two. Vanity Fair’s latest issue offers an in-depth look at the highly-anticipated sequel to Abrams’ blockbuster megalith. Here are six takeaways from the magazine’s extensive behind-the-scenes view.

The closer we get to the release of Patty Jenkin's Wonder Woman the more I feel like the three-headed-Hellhound Cerberus is tugging at my aspirations for this film. I love Diana, and want more than anything for her solo film to blow people out of the water and prove, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that a female-lead super hero film can be just as amazing as any other male or team-based venture. ... You Know you're nearing the end of the season when the body count starts rising.
This week alone we saw the crushing death of two leads and two supporting characters, each one emotionally brutal in its own right.
At least one murder was solved. Well, we know who did it, even if there is no reason why.
Good times, right?
Check out the quotes to go along with all this chipper activity!
1. The Expanse Julie: What happens to us now? Miller: I don’t know. We die, maybe. But if we don’t die, that’d be interesting. Whatever happens, happens... 2. Nashville Rayna: I think we [women] sometimes let ourselves be the object. A man says he loves you, that's it, that's love. Like he gets to choose.... 3. Bones Sully: Grief does things. It mixes you up. 4. This Is Us William: Roll all the windows down, Randall, crank up the music,...

The closer we get to the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the more excited I get about seeing it. I’m sure that’s true for many of you as well. Lucasfilm continues to feed our fandom as they’ve released a series of new photos from the film.
The images include new looks at Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) in handcuffs, Director Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) looking stern as hell, and then there are the badass Death Troopers. I swear I’ve seen this image of the Death Troopers before, but it seems like everyone says it’s a new one.
There’s nothing too revealing in these images. They are just a little something to feed our fandom. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on December 16 2016.

We've got a few new promo materials to share with you from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Warner Bros. has released a new TV spot as well as a few behind-the-scenes photos of Zack Snyder directing certain actors in the film. You'll also find a new image of Lex Luthor above and a few previously seen shots from the film, but the ones I included in this post are high-resolution versions of those images.
The closer we get to this movie actually opening in theaters, the more excited I am getting to see it. Even if, like me, you didn't like Man of Steel, it's hard not to be excited about seeing Batman and Superman locked in an epic battle with each other! The movie opens up on March 25th!

★★★★☆ In the opening moments of Karen Guthrie's understated and extremely moving The Closer We Get (2015) her car glides along darkened roads at twilight, the way ahead lit only as far as low beams will permit. The notion of driving into the unknown and of unseen elements hidden in obscure surroundings is a clear metaphor for a highly personal, even therapeutic, ninety-minute journey of discovery, understanding and acceptance that the documentary filmmaker embarks upon more for her own good than ours.

It could almost be Mills & Boon: a 1950s Irish girl is torn between her new life in New York and her old one back home – with a dishy suitor in each country to sharpen the dilemma. Between Colm Tóibín’s source novel, the attention to historical detail and a finely textured performance from Ronan, it becomes something far richer, even if the plot is disappointingly straightforward.

The closer we get to WWE 2K16’s release date, the better the game sounds.
While WWE 2K14 was an unadulterated success story on so many levels, last year’s instalment in the WWE/2K franchise was a huge let down. Certain features were inexplicably left out while the whole look and feel of the game looked a little… rushed. Let’s not be too harsh on the current game’s developers however, as they only realistically had less than a year to build the current gen versions of the game from scratch!
This year, there appears to have been a conscious effort to see the return of those features that didn’t make the cut.
We’ve basically heard all we need to hear about the new title, all WWE and 2K need to do at this point is release the full list of matches we can...

Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival
Building up a social justice themed festival can be tough - they don't get the same kind of media attention as more general film festivals - but this year's Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, which opens today, has an amazing line-up of over 300 events taking place all around the country. Of these, a substantial number are films, including hit features like Silver Linings Playbook and Still Alice, and challenging documentaries like The Closer We Get.
For today only, the festival is engaging with creative groups across Scotland who are putting on events for World Mental Health Day. The aim of these events, and of the festival itself, is to draw attention to the number of people affected by different kinds of mental health condition and illustrate the ways their lives are changed as a result, helping to break down stigma and challenge the myth that mentally.

Given the giant cloud of secrecy and security surrounding the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, at this point we don’t really know much about the movie other than a few tidbits. The closer we get, however, the more we hear, and a new rumor making the rounds may shed a bit of light on Max Von Sydow’s character in the film. Just a heads up, there are potential Spoilers beyond this point. Tread cautiously, dear reader. The 86-year-old Swedish actor was one of the names included in the initial casting announcement about J.J. Abrams’ seventh Star Wars: Episode film, but there’s been relatively little mentioned about his role in the film. Early scuttlebutt indicated he could be an ancient villain, though most recently he has been referred to as The Vicar—at least that was his codename. According to Making ...

The closer we get to seeing actual new Star Wars movies on the big screen, the more we hear, and the more outlandish the rumors we hear get. One new report making the rounds is especially strange, and indicates that Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII might bring back another previous cast member, but not a cast member from the original trilogy, a cast member from the prequels. First, there are potential Spoilers beyond this point. Second, make sure to take this with a giant grain of salt. Maybe treat it as an interesting oddity rather than set-in-stone fact. That said, here we go… According to Making Star Wars, who have been all over the new Star Wars beat, Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, may be coming back for Episode ...

★★★☆☆ Every family is unique and each one has its own personal stories to tell. Scottish-born artist and filmmaker Karen Guthrie puts her own family under the spotlight in her low scale but no less effective documentary The Closer We Get (2015). The film, which was featured at the Scottish Documentary Institute's Edinburgh Pitch last year, is an intimate and quietly moving portrait of Karen's family in the wake of a stroke that left her mother Ann incapacitated. As her family - father Ian and three siblings - all return to the nest and rally around to take care of their mother, Karen takes the opportunity to peel back the lid on their unconventional situation and ask the questions that have been plaguing her for years.

"My mum was my 'co-pilot' in a many ways and part of the strength of the film comes from that sense of two women in cahoots." Karen Guthrie's The Closer We Get sees her turn the camera on her own family to record the months after her mum Ann had a stroke. As the family's world revolves around caring for her mum, Guthrie begins to consider the past that saw her dad move out their home and the present which has brought him back again - it's a journey that takes her a long way from her family home in Largs. The film won the Best International Documentary award at Canada's Hot Docs Film Festival and will have its European premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival tomorrow night (June 18).
We caught up with the filmmaker at the festival to talk about her film.
