There's nothing like the phrase "exclusive photos of orangutans" to get us excited here at Digital Spy, so thank you Animal Planet for providing us with some snaps from new series Meet the Orangutans.
The show, which begins tonight, explores the world's oldest orangutan sanctuary Sepilok in Malaysia - which is home to no less than 50 orangutans at a time. So without further ado, here are 14 adorable orangutan pictures:
1. Peanut getting a health check.
Yes, there is an orangutan called Peanut. We would be worried about him getting a health check but the whole thing is too damn cute.
2. Chiquita investigating the camera.
Fascinated.
3. Beryl chomping on a leaf.
The orangutans at Sepilok learn the survival skills they need so that they can be eventually released back into the wild.
4. Chiquita, hanging out.
Just chilling.
5. Lumi and Kala getting snuggly.
Apparently the teenagers aren't quite as innocent as the younger...

A self-acknowledged "showcase for Academy Award frontrunners," the Santa Barbara International Film Festival is often overlooked for the actual films that earn it festival status. An amalgamation of international discoveries and ’merica’s circuit highlights, the Sbiff curates a week of best-of-the-best to pair with their star-praising. The 2015 edition offers another expansive selection, bookended by two films that aren’t on any radars just yet. Sbiff will open with "Desert Dancer," producer Richard Raymond’s directorial debut. Starring Reece Ritchie and Frieda Pinto, the drama follows a group of friends who wave off the harsh political climate of Iran’s 2009 presidential election in favor of forming a dance team, picking up moves from Michael Jackson, Gene Kelly and Rudolf Nureyev thanks to the magic of YouTube. The festival will close with "McFarland, USA," starring Kevin Costner and Maria Bello. Telling the 1987 true story of a Latino high school’s underdog cross-country team,...

Partners In Crime is the latest film from Taiwanese director Jung-chi Chang (Touch of the Light), and, like his previous features, he again taps into a superbly realized gen Y narrative. The film is directed with complete confidence. Right from the outset, the fast-paced and exciting opening credits, saturated pop conceptualism, and surrealism set the stage and tone of things to come.Three juvenile boys from the same high school happen upon the body of a schoolgirl one gloomy afternoon. After reporting it to the police they are compelled to investigate further after they are told nothing of the girl's demise and are instead given a heartless school counselor, who cryptically suggests they forget about the incident.Although schoolmates, the boys do not initially know each other,...

Something Scandalous: Teenage Anxiety as a Reflection of Culture
In many ways, Taiwanese director Jung-chi Chang’s sophomore feature, Partners in Crime, is very much like the American teen thrillers of the late ‘90s. Its thematic preoccupation moral judgments, perspective and repressed desires reiterates—coincidentally—the sort of social admonitory fluff that might have featured Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. As such, it’s far more intriguing as a cultural talking point than as an actual film, saying something about art as a reflection of a fluid social climate despite embodying mediocrity.
The premise is simple: three very different teenage boys—Huang, the shy one; Yeh, the tough guy; and Lin, the techie geek—happen upon the body of a classmate in an alleyway. It’s clear that she fell from five stories above but no one is able to discern whether she was murdered or if she committed suicide.
