Jason Watkins has been tapped to play former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson on Netflix’s original drama series The Crown. Additionally, Helena Bonham Carter has been officially confirmed to play Princess Margaret on the upcoming third season, slated to premiere in 2019. She will take over the role played in the first two seasons by Vanessa Kirby.

The second season of The Crown premiered December 8 on Netflix. In it, Margaret married Antony Armstrong-Jones, the Earl of Snowdon (Matthew Goode) and the season ended with her pregnant with one of their children.

Jason Watkins has applauded ITV for having the courage to tackle The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.
The actor played Jefferies in the true-life drama, about a retired schoolteacher vilified by the press after being falsely accused of murder.
Watkins told Digital Spy that ITV deserved credit for airing a piece of drama that was "not necessarily mainstream" in a primetime slot.
For more from Watkins - including talk of W1A, The Hollow Crown and Trollied - hit play on the video above.
The star was named best Leading Actor at last night's BAFTAs, trumping Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch, Marvellous star Toby Jones and The Missing's James Nesbitt.
The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies was also crowned best Mini-Series, beating out Cilla, Our World War and Prey.

Exclusive: Who owns history? In the run-up to the Oscars, the critiques playing out in the press over the “accuracy” of events portrayed in Selma, American Sniper and The Imitation Game have never had a more powerful purchase on the public conversation.

He might recreate the days-long encounter between a British interlocutor and a paranoid U.S. President, as he did first onstage and then in film with Frost/Nixon.
