The Invisibles

Warning: Spoilers
Ivan Lausman is a successful Czech but his success involved breaking a few laws and the police, under Commissioner Jara, are closing in on him. Unable to face jail he throws himself into Prague's Vltava River; however he does not drown… he cannot drown. Unbeknownst to him he is a Nix, a secretive aquatic case that can breathe underwater. His troubles are about to increase; Jara is still after him and now the Nixes are too… they believe his survival could lead to ordinary humans learning about them so their leadership decides to eliminate him! Not all of the Nixes agree though; others think it is time they revealed their existence… especially when tests reveal that Lausman could be their long awaited Messiah!

This Czech series manages the difficult task of being quirky without being twee. The plot it interesting and original and provides plenty of laughs. The story gives us some nice details about Nix society that aren't strictly necessary but serve to make them feel more real. The characters are varied and interesting and the cast does a fine job; most notably, but not exclusively, Jirí Langmajer and Simona Babcáková as Lausman and Jara. There are laughs to be had in every episode; some from some fairly bizarre ideas such as the 'turbo-frogs' that are put in the water as frogspawn and grow to maturity in a day and a Nix girl who alleviates her boredom by drowning ordinary people as they enjoy the river… something that shouldn't be funny but somehow is. Overall I'd recommend this to anybody looking for something rather different.

The wacky world of nixes

This is the most creative TV series that I have seen in a long, long time. Try to imagine crossing the 'Da Vinci Code' with 'Harry Potter', then moulding it into a charming comedy set in beautiful Prague. Although we watched it with English subtitles and may have missed out on some of the Eastern European cultural jokes, it was still hugely entertaining. The twists and turns of the plot couldn't be predicted making it enormously engaging. We had obviously never heard of any of the actors either, but they were all perfect in their roles. There were a few loose ends, but we hope this is because they are going to make some more! Enormously enjoyable and highly recommended.

This is next to Master i Margarita(2005) the best TV Minis-eries ever made. With an elaborate writing , with very credible and very well choose actors , with many comic moments, this masterpiece have nothing in common with usual american crap.I see on a revue a comparation between this movie and Harry Poter melted with The Da Vinci Code. This is nothing like that.Harry Potter is movie for decervelate children, Da Vinci Code is a movie for decervelate adults. This is a movie for intelligent people.
