A must see
happyguigui2 January 2017
I am not often moved to tears. But I was this time, and several times The story line is good and captivating The scenario is not linear as I expected, it surprised me several times. The story is even more captivating when you know it is based on true events. I checked a bit more of what is happening in China, it is just unbelievable ! It is as the movie shows and maybe worse : all the cheating, spying and the tortures to get those people to sign against their believes... In a recent article it was said that the number of illegal transplants amounts between 1 and 1.5 millions ! It is alike what happened during WW2 with the Jews. To summarize, this movie is a must-see, as much for the story in itself and for the message it delivers

Thrilling, devastating

I recommend this film, highly. It puts you in the middle of the action in China -- spying, lying, profiteering, violence -- that China doesn't want anyone to know about. Gave me goosebumps to think that the technology and heartless state policy in the film is real. That realism raised the stakes for the action and the plot to incredible heights. Props to a refreshingly intelligent thriller. Probably not a good one for young kids, FYI, but it would be good for a younger generation, say, teenagers, to see it because there'a a good message and it could open their eyes to some crazy stuff going on in the world right now that they'd be better for knowing. Plus, they'd be riveted, just like anyone, by the story.

A fact based drama about the organ harvesting trade in China
Windsun3317 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This follows the story of a Canadian techie in China to install improvements to the Great Firewall of China, and a woman that is imprisoned based only on the fact that she is a Falun Gong practitioner. It exposes one of the uglier sides of China under the Communist Party - "transplant tourism" for money. Political prisoners were and still are routinely killed for organ harvesting. The acting and not-quite-mega-budget production values are not the best, but the message is overpowering despite those flaws. Easy to see why China has blocked this movie, and has gone so far as to pressure many movie theaters to not show it.

organ harvesting in China revealed. 90% of the film scenes are based off of true accounts. A narrative with a surprising end that inspires you to want to do something.

I cannot begin to describe how heart wrenching this film is. I was blind to the insanity of the goings on in China and now I am so broken hearted. Please watch this film and spread awareness about this atrocity. The story of a Chinese family torn apart because of their illegal belief and a wealthy technician from the west. This will take you in and inspire you to get on the internet and try to do something about spreading the awareness. As can be evidence by me. This is not something that people who have a stomach will like to see but they need to see it. We cannot keep burying our head in the sand. Its time to do something America.

Thought provoking, touching, hit you at the core - based on true events.

I watched this film at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival and was not surprised that it was this year's award winning film. My wife and I like films that are based on true events, so as to become more conscientiously aware of the world around us.

At the end of this film my heart was deeply moved by the shocking revelation, that such a horrific atrocity of live organ harvesting is systematically underway by the Chinese Communist Party and still happening to this day.

Something struck my inner core deeply and I was left with uncontrollable tears of shock, horror and sadness that such things are playing out in real life. Like a surreal horror movie or nightmare come to life...

I've since been interested in helping any way I can to help spread the awareness locally here to my community at large of organ harvesting in China. I have been lead to our university and found a group of individuals who are trying to educate students and professors about these present day atrocities and am wanting to continue to support these endeavors in which ever way, shape or form I can. My thoughts and prayers go out to all prisoners of conscious being persecuted by the Chinese government 🙁😔🙁

Watch with objectivity

This movie is not about acting or thriller. As horrible as it appears, an in depth check on the internet confirms the practices used by the Chinese government regime in not only incarcerating Falun Gong practitioners but also using their vital organs for business transplants. Horrors are not new. Torture is not new. The history of humanity is stained continuously with groups (governments, sects or individuals) exerting their power to achieve their immoral objectives. This movie is a milestone, as many others before (see the work of Costa Gravas), to make us open our minds to animal totalitarism. In terms of cinematography, the movie is average. The content is what is mostly important.

More terrifying than a horror movie.
youngoldbloke15 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I had thought of seeing "Hotel Mumbai" but it was too close to the Christchurch mosque attacks for comfort. I wanted something a bit lighter, so I saw "The Bleeding Edge" instead. Bad move: this story is more terrifying than anything I've seen in years. The implications are so far-reaching.

Despite the far-fetched and clumsy plot that doesn't seem to be aware of how computer servers are accessed, an amazing recovery from being shot, an unlikely shaking off of well-equipped pursuers, etc, the characters are well-written and well-acted.

What is terrifying is not only the insidious power of the police state, but it can't be seen forgetting the non-fictional context of the increasing soft power that China exerts whereby foreign governments have become reluctant to criticize China's treatment of minorities and dissenters or its one-sided so-called free-trade deals.

The defects in plot don't explain the lack of publicity this film has received. I follow movies fairly closely but hadn't been aware of it. Movies don't often take more than two years to come to my notice. Just as there is increasing reluctance on the part of world leaders to discuss Taiwan or Tibet it appears that cinemas are reluctant to screen a controversial movie.
