Enjoyable first episode.

As a seven year old child, Jane Phillips witnesses the death of her mother, twenty five years later at a hospital, she believes she's seen the killer, a notable surgeon.

I rather enjoyed this, it's one of those shows that seemed somehow to pass me by at the time.

It's typical ITV style, and of like me, you're a fan, you will enjoy it. I liked the story, I liked the pacing, I very much liked the acting, Claire Goose and Pippa Heywood are always good, Peter Firth is outstanding.

If this was made now it would be six parts long, I appreciated the slightly shorter running time, I am intrigued to learn the outcome.

A very good first half, 8/10.

Undeniable is a crime thriller starring Claire Goose as Jane Phillips.

As a child she witnessed her mother being murdered by a stranger on a trip to the lake.

Now almost 25 years later, Jane believes that oncologist Andrew Rawlins (Peter Firth) is the man who killed her mother.

Retiring detective Alison Hall is in charge of the case. She was part of the team at the time of the murder and would like to solve this cold case.

Jane has to put up with lot of scepticism from her family. She has had mental health issues since her mother's murder and has been on antidepressants.

The police have to be cagey as Rawlins is a respected doctor and his family support him strongly when the allegations are made.

The first episode has the set up. Is Jane unstable? While Rawlins arouses just enough suspicion with his behaviour. It simmered nicely but is not outstanding. There is a lot where you have seen it all before.

The murder seems to be without motive and advances in DNA testing leads to the police asking Rawlins for his blood to be tested.

Of course it would be too simple if the results lead to Rawlins being accused of murder. The episode ends with Jane looking hysterical and someone who is seriously mistaken.
