- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: Why did you decide to take a picture of this particular baby?
- Nurse: He was so big. He looked like he could be somebody's little brother. I just thought there should be a picture of him. To show the world that he was here for a little while.
- Jessica Wood - Woody's Daughter: Any last piece of advice, Dad?
- Detective James Wood: The way I see it, you got a couple of choices here.
- [Jessica laughs]
- Priest: Who gives this woman to be joined in holy matrimony?
- Detective James Wood: Her mother and I do.
- [hands Jessica to the groom, doesn't move]
- Priest: [gestures to Woody] You can be seated.
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: I promise I'm only doing drugs a few more months.
- Ed McGuire: Yeah I've heard that before. You'll start with the drugs, then you'll go back to homicide.
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: I'm tired of looking at autopsies and murder weapons. I just want a normal life.
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: [answers phone] Woody, I'm not back until tomorrow.
- Detective James Wood: There's that voice I long to hear. I thought you were back today. I'll call Dan.
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: Well now I'm curious, what's up?
- Detective James Wood: We found an Oxy source, it's a Doctor Kermit Gosnell. He runs a clinic at 3801 Lancaster Avenue. I want to get a warrant so we can put a hidden camera in there.
- Keshawna: Look, most of the pharmacists, you know, they legit. You can't be going in there with the same names on the scripts all the time. So Dr. Gosnell, he has us pay 50 bucks to junkies for their IDs and has us write the scripts for them.
- DEA Agent Sam Frye: Is he the only doctor writing the scripts?
- Keshawna: He the only doctor there. They got girls who haven't been to high school doing the procedures.
- FBI Agent: The procedures?
- Keshawna: Yeah, the abortions.
- Keshawna: Seekers pay 80 for an A, that means $3200 for a script.
- DEA Agent Sam Frye: Seekers?
- Keshawna: Yeah, see we got 3...
- [gets up and draws on blackboard]
- Keshawna: We got 3 kinds of customers at the clinic. The seekers, they the ones come in for the drugs: Oxy, sometimes Xanax, Percocet. And you got the procedures. And they *gotta* get their pain meds to get ready for the abortions when the doctor comes in. Cause see, he don't even get there most days until 7 o' clock at night or so.
- Detective James Wood: Who's giving the abortion customers their pain meds?
- DEA Agent Sam Frye: What's that got to do with anything?
- Detective James Wood: Well if there's no doctor there, who's dolling out the pain meds?
- Keshawna: Any of us. Allison. Lydia. Betty sometimes, she's been there since she was 15.
- DEA Agent Sam Frye: [to Woody] Do you think we can get back to the *drug* investigation?
- Keshawna: Lydia was there when that one woman died.
- Detective James Wood: Wait, a woman *died*?
- Detective James Wood: This doesn't make sense to me here. Healthy woman goes into a clinic, comes out dead and there's no police report? How's that happen?
- Dr. Donald Bernstein: The death certificate said 'accidental death'.
- Detective James Wood: Fentanyl and Demerol don't sound like accidental drugs to me. They sound like doctor drugs.
- Dr. Donald Bernstein: Yeah, but if a doctor administered them, it's not a crime. It's an accident, malpractice maybe.
- Detective James Wood: What if the doctor... *didn't* administer them?
- Detective James Wood: A woman goes into a clinic, gets drugged to death by some untrained teen, and that's just a drug case?
- Detective James Wood: Karnamaya Mongar, 41 years old, her husband and her and her kid get chased out of Bhutan for some ethnic cleansing bullshit, I don't know what it is. They spend 20 years in a straw hut in a refugee camp at Nepal, only to finally, *finally*, make it to the good old USA. 4 months later she goes in for a procedure with Dr. Oxy, now she's dead and no one seems to give a damn.
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: You seem to give a damn.
- Detective James Wood: I do!
- DA Dan Molinari: What kind of procedure?
- Detective James Wood: Abortion!
- Detective Stark: [raiding Gosnell's clinic for drugs, opens cupboard, finds several jars, looks in disbelief] Hey Woody... hey man, you got to see this.
- [holds up jar with baby's foot inside of it]
- Detective James Wood: Hold it up higher.
- [gets it on camera]
- Detective Stark: Hey man, is this normal?
- Detective James Wood: I don't know. I've never been in an abortion clinic before.
- Molly Mullaney: [comes up to the police barricade] So officer, have there been any arrests?
- [pause]
- Molly Mullaney: Can you tell me why the police are raiding an abortion clinic?
- [officer doesn't respond]
- Molly Mullaney: Why are the DEA and FBI involved?
- [no response]
- Molly Mullaney: What's the matter, you don't like tattoos?
- Kermit Gosnell: [points to a cat in his clinic as the police are raiding it] You see that little rascal over there? He's killed over 100 mice in this clinic.
- [laughs maniacally]
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: [finds Woody in her office] Woody.
- Detective James Wood: [holds up camera] You are not gonna believe what I saw last night.
- [shows her the footage]
- Detective James Wood: The stench was unbelievable. He had all these bags everywhere, he said they were medical waste, we opened up some of them, there were little bodies inside.
- Alexis 'Lexy' McGuire: Bodies? What do you mean, fetuses?
- Detective James Wood: Well, they looked like babies to me. So far we found 30 of them, stuffed inside jars, inside bags, the refrigerator, the freezer, everywhere.
- Detective Stark: [walking upstairs during the raid on the abortion clinic] I stepped in something.
- Detective James Wood: [notes the cats running all over] Probably cat shit.
- Detective Stark: [looks at the bottom of his shoe] Oh man, it *is* cat shit!
- [scrapes it on the stair]
- Kermit Gosnell: [chuckles] Well, well, this baby is big enough to walk me to the bus stop.
- [grabs a pair of scissors and severs its spinal cord]
- Nurse: [after Karnamaya Monger's abortion] Doctor she don't look good, she a funny color.
- Kermit Gosnell: [looks, grimly] Oh my.
- Nurse: [at trial] Doc had the crash cart brought down from the 3rd floor but the paddles were broke.
- Kermit Gosnell: [flashback] Well, I am just THRILLED that we kept this equipment up to date!
- [frantic]
- Kermit Gosnell: Okay, plug in that oximeter.
- Nurse: Doc, that oximeter don't work.
- Kermit Gosnell: Well plug it in anyway! And uh... throw away that expired medication. And let's clean up the floor. We only get one chance to make a good first impression.
- Detective James Wood: We've been cleaning stuff out of this clinic for almost 24 hours. We found envelopes with money in them, one of which was labeled with
- Detective Stark: Karnamaya Monger.
- Detective James Wood: Thank you.
- DA Dan Molinari: She paid for her own death?
- Detective Stark: We also found all these medical waste bags, some of them contained fetuses. Then we had these files that Gosnell kept on them, and some of them corresponded with the fetuses.
- DA Dan Molinari: How did you match the files to the bodies?
- Detective James Wood: He labeled them. He wrote names on a little piece of masking tape.
- DA Dan Molinari: The guy must not think he did anything wrong.
- Detective Stark: But he was moving the files, and removing the bags in the meantime.
- DA Dan Molinari: How could he do that? There are cops all over the place.
- Detective Stark: It's like a maze up in there. It's like 3 houses connected by secret corridors, I got lost in there a couple of times. *But*, he's not under arrest, so he could've moved the files at any time.
- DA Dan Molinari: Sounds like he *does* think he did something wrong.
