Mike Redman wrote a book accompanying the film entitled 'The Sample Diary'. It reveals the trials and tribulations that he experienced during the making of the film.
Director Mike Redman was persistent to involve iconic and passionate artists to tell their story and experiences related to the sampling-culture. Without a budget and with most artist agencies not replying to Redman's interview requests, over a six year span more than 50 interviews were done of which only 4 were officially scheduled by appointment.
Ironically 'Sample: Not For Sale' was never commercially released due to the use of samples.
