- Harry applies for a bank loan to fund Nancy Webb's project but at the land auction is forced to bid well beyond his budget due to Loxley's interference. Lois meanwhile is perturbed to find that Marie is running up huge hotel bills on Harry's account and decides to find out more about her. Agnes is concerned by Henri's distant attitude and learns from Victor that Henri is traumatised by his war experiences. This leads to a row whilst they are designing a window display in which Harry has to intervene. Connie, one of many women engaged at the store to replace the men fighting in the war and now laid off, is angry and Kitty secures her a job in her department. Kitty herself is attacked by drunken, disgruntled ex-soldiers unable to find work, the same men Frank had interviewed for his article on their perceived rejection on returning from the war.—don @ minifie-1
- Having been refused a loan by his own Board of Directors, Harry arranges a personal loan of £30,000 to buy the land for the housing estate. He's confident that he can get the land for less than half of that amount but Loxley arrives and bids the price up. Harry knows he got the information from Serge, but the new son-in-law is unrepentant. Henri continues to suffer from shell-shock and is becoming more and more remote. After spending another night alone in her bed she visits Victor and learns what happened to the men fighting at Verdun. Harry intervenes to help his old friend. Harry's mother Lois learns that Princess Marie's flat isn't being renovated as she said, suggesting that her hotel bill will only get larger. Lois decides to look into the princess' background. Frank Edwards is fed up with his sister-in-law Connie being at home all the time so Kitty arranges for her to work with her in the cosmetics department. Kitty is attacked by some unemployed soldiers Frank recently interviewed for his new book.—garykmcd

The villainous Loxley (boo and hiss) is up to his old tricks, plus still trying to turn Sergei against Harry. Harry is involved in some very heavy financial dealings. Jane Webb may come to Harry's rescue. Is she a new substitute for the dearly departed Rose? Bums/jobless/disgruntled war veterans are jostling for sidewalk position to sell small items or beg for money, but watch out if they don't try to severely beat up pedestrians who don't wish to play their game. Henri is also a recent war veteran, but he has a job. He still has time to go all PTSD and scare the bejeebers out of Agnes and Harry.
