Hagen's resignation means the family must elect his successor as CEO. Sworn enemies Sebastian and Asngar are confident one of them will prevail, but each can only muster a single supporter. Rebecca stands against them rather then for herself, and fares no better, which means a three-way deadlock. Hagen now regrets not having voted, although he considers neither candidate suited, and counterfeits a more recent testament written with late patriarch Ludwig's blood to change the family rules, so Elisabeth is no longer excluded and he gets the right to nominate (her as) his successor.
