I Love this Show to Bits
lilMissMisan26 December 2021
I watched this series religiously when I was younger. They'd air it on the TV channel Pop alot and I found it very fun. I decided to look back on it and give it a re-watch like I do with a lot of the shows I used to like, and to my surprise, the show holds up very well and is really good.

The main 4 characters are very enjoyable if not flawed. They all have their gripes and mishaps with each other but at the end of the day, they're still a team of really great friends that love each other, though some may like each other in more ways beyond friendship (looking at you Vin and Zero).

While the main villain Miss Macbeth is an objectively terrible person and teacher, I don't dislike her because her VA does a fantastic job making her sound completely unhinged and looney, to the point where its hilarious whenever she's on screen.

I like how there's a bit of continuity in this show despite being episodic in nature. There's hints of not only Macbeth's past, but also backstory clues of the main 4, particularly their family issues. However, alot of these hints will remained unresolved since this show sadly only got 1 season, no idea why it never got recommissioned for more episodes.

The animation is really good for a 2000s rigged/puppet style, though this series was animated in France, which has alot of amazing animated media. I love the lineless style and the designs of the main/side characters.

Some of the episodes can be a bit eh, this show does get away with a lot of weird things and the music segments can be hit or miss (but when a song is good, oh boy is it an earworm), but overall INK is a very fun show that deserved atleast 2 more seasons, and more appreciation outside those who simply watched it as a kid.

It gets a high 7 from me, its very close to an 8 though.

Warning: Spoilers
I will tell you when a spoiler will happen.

I first heard about this show from Mr. Enter; and his video piqued my interests in the show, so I watched it's 26 episodes and here I am now.

This show is episodic. Each episode has the main villain Miss Macbeth forming a new scheme to capture, reveal, kill, hypnotize, and/or punish all the children at Pinkerton (the school in question) or just the Invisible Network of Kids (the poorly named group the protagonists make). Many of her plans come very close to succeeding, as in one episode (this is were a spoiler comes into play), she basically kills all but one member of I.N.K. However, she's bested by Vin easily.*

Each episode serves as a way to teach one of the members of I.N.K. a lesson in friendship, teamwork, etc. It comes out in a mixed back of results. Each episode also serves as a catalyst to learn more about a certain character's backstory. These also vary in quality. Continuing onward will evoke spoilers... be warned. One such arc is Trixie's parent-hating arc. This dislike of her parents comes out of nowhere, and is resolved by the ending. Vin's parent arc is in direct contrast. It does feel forced like Trixie's but I thought it worked better. It's basically that Vin is an orphan, and his parents might be secret agents. Although it's cliché and forced I still thought it worked decently. Anyway, I just wanted to highlight those.

The show has a multitude of varying episodes, and each, does take much from other mediums as well as it's own. The last few episodes really brought that thought down upon me. They used many references such as in the final episode the character known as Trixie says, "Elementary my dear Newton." This is in all regards a reference to Sherlock Holmes, and the episode was about a private detective investigating the school, so it works. Now, they don't always just reference, no, sometimes they use cliché's. An example would easily be the theater episode, but firstly I am obliged to say there will be a minimal spoiler ahead. In this the group try to preform Romeo and Juliet; it goes wrong, they wing in, and in the end they're play is a success. This is an overused plot, and I cannot condone it. It does help move the romance, or well, the implied romance along.*

Moving on, in the English dub many of the voice actors are terrible. Macbeth is probably the best of the voice actors whereas Trixie is probably the worst. Many of the actors are decent at speaking in general, but when they're supposed to sound surprised, astonished, or even just yelling they will nine times out of ten fail. However, the translation itself was decent enough to understand.

The animation is flash. It is watchable, but some angles are trash. To illustrate, if there was a table with stuff on it that table would be seen as if from above, but we would actually be looking at it from the side. The show's looks didn't deter me from watching.

My final thoughts are that this show was enjoyable. Macbeth is funny because of her voice actor, and for the strange reason that she has a musical number each episode*. Some characters such as Zero are interesting; overall it's an enjoyable show. I won't go into it with high expectations though. That's just my thought, goodbye.

Notes.

*I didn't want to make the first paragraph abhorrently long, so I'm continuing down here. The episode I mentioned is probably the worst in the series. It's about time travel, and as you can tell, it isn't done properly. I could point out many many flaws and paradoxes throughout the episode. If I were to watch the series again I would skip this one.

*Implied romance it between Vin and Zero.

*Spoiler, which does get explained by her love of music... and her old job as a children's singer.

Reminds me of Code Lyoko
nasdagoodshepherd18 June 2020
Animation from Europe has some pretty interesting forms of animation, including shows and I mean A LOT of shows. Code Lyoko, Eliot Kid, Skunk Fu!, The Amazing World of Gumball, Hero: 108, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Danger Mouse, (1981 and 2015) Jamie's Got Tentacles, Count Duckula, Wakfu, Robotboy, Totally Spies!, The Cramp Twins, Cédic, Space Goofs, Pirate Family, Dofus: The Tressures of Kerub, Monster Buster Club, A Kind of Magic, My Knight and Me, Martin Mystery, Zig and Sharko, Victor & Hugo: Bunglers In Crime, Oggy and The Cockroaches, The Amazing Spies!, Angelo Rules, Floopaloo, Where Are You?, Sally Bollwood, Bunny Maloney, Gawayn, Matt's Monsters, The DaVincibles, and now this, I.N.K Invisible Network of Kids. (a.k.a Code Lyoko 2.0) This show features a group of four kids who hang around at a boarding school called Pinkerton School where a crazy, sinister teacher named Ms. Macbeth who wants to enslave all the children across the school, but The Invisible Network of Kids (Vin, Zero, Trixie, and Newton) always come up with fantastic spies gadgets to solve problems fight off against Ms. Macbeth. The writing in this show is pretty good, the animation is nice, the voice acting is good and the fight scenes are pretty cool. Oh, and did I mention that this show has some catchy songs? Yes I did. All I'm saying is that I.N.K Invisible Network of Kids is just as good as Code Lyoko and a few other cartoons, especially the cartoons that were made in Europe. And yes, I ship Vin x Zero. I give this show an 8.5/10

arielsiere5 June 2022
This is the worst show ever from 2009 along with Destroy Build Destroy and Dude What Would Happen but it says it was in 2008 which is the year that Codename Kids Next Door got cancelled since January 21st, and invisible network of kids got cancelled in 2010, it is much worse than The PowerPuff Girls (2016), this condlcudes my review of invisible network of kids the worst show next to King Star King.

No, seriously.

  • Can we have Codename Kids Next Door?

  • No, we have Codename Kids Next Door at home
  • Codename Kids Next Door at home:

...no, seriously, that's genuinely how I feel about this show, no joke. This has to be one of the lousiest and shameless knockoffs of a show I've ever seen in my life. I'm not even kidding about that, by the way! Oh, and not to mention back around a decade or so ago (in the early 2010's) this was shown on Pop, a Freeview channel, whereas Codename Kids Next Door (the show that this is ripping off) was on Cartoon Network, a rather premium channel. That, just about, says it all. I have terrible memories about this and now is the time for those memories to be released.
