Not many films try to be different. But this is one of the few action/thrillers that shocked and amazed audience with it's dark and gritty imagery and a few light comical moments. The best actor in the film is Ryan Mayne who is outstanding as the main villain.

A New Age in Durban Cinema

The Bush Knife is an epic thriller action that gives a South African take on the anti-hero genre. The first real hero for the Indian South African community. The film has a lot of story but not once do you feel bored. One of the best local films I've seen so far.

Considering the budget that was spent on the film, this actually turned out to be a awesome film. Escpically the master scene where bush knife is been trained and gets his blades. I'm hoping for a part 2. But would love to see more money invested in films like this.
Crime or Punishment?

We first get introduced to the lead as a news report ring out through the city about a vigilantly on the loose.
Next we go into flash back mode and look at at how at all started. What man an average family man turn to a life of crime? What could of possessed him?
Turns out this average man's family was stolen from him and his bloody vengeance was all in pursuit to get them back.
The audience watches, shocked, at the means this man will go. From butcher shops to fast car chases this action packed thriller will leave you on the edge of your seat.
This may be a low budget but the amazing locations will have you thinking it belongs on the big screen. This production spared no expense to take to on this ride.

An Ordinary Hero

I like this film for one thing. That it focused on having an ordinary person who becomes this hero instead of what we are shown by Hollywood. It deserves it's chance and we need more films like this. Well done to the director.
Very Engaging

As a person who is not really found of low budget South African films, I found this film rather engaging. Although it wasn't the best I've seen, I could not help but be glued to the screen when watching this. Very few films keep me interested but this one won my heart.
Something different?

The film had a vengeance type tale that has been done by hollywood over and over. But it was very engaging and entertaining to my surprize. I actually think that the chief of police character should have more scenes in this film cause his quiet good. But for a low budget south african movie I think. It was pretty good.
Revenge is coming

I enjoyed watching this film for what it was. It kept me glued as there was always something happening. And if you move out of your seat you were gonna miss an important scene to the story. I feel it could use a sequel as if left us wanting more.
New kind of revenge

Renaldo Kell dived into a new kind of revenge movie. The average man revenge movie. Interesting story and nice fight sequences very Avant Garde and it definitely a winner, action packed, funny and entertaining. We are intrigued to find out about skull criminal organisation. It is a different take on an action man to be heavy set or in this woke culture we have to call him generously proportioned. But why does so many people who get vengeance in movies well built men. The fact that the character generously proportioned makes him more vulnerable. The character has no good looks or charm but is a father makes for good viewing thank you sir for putting something worthwhile in sout africa.
