Best episode ever written
roguecritic4216 June 2016
This was the best episode ever in the entire collection of episodes of the show. I've never seen a TV episode so perfect.

It's comparable to a high budget well written gritty modern western movie.

I think knowing the complete background of both characters really helps to make this episode what it is.

But even if you just watched it as the only episode you ever watch of this entire show, I think it is worthy of a 10/10 rating.

I didn't mind waiting the several months of off-season to have the privilege to watch it. I've rarely seen this kind of quality writing before.

Bohannon Vs Gunderson: Final Round

Warning: Spoilers
Its odd this will be the first EP in this series I will write a review of.

I think this is because this EP. really struck me as being one of THE BEST if not THE BEST ep.S of the series.

The camerawork in this EP.s is amazing. On the faces, the fight scenes, the chase scenes, all of it.

I would give this EP a perfect 10 score if not for the minor hiccup I found with Gunderson not taking the gun way from Bohannon when he had him dead to rights with the chain around his neck. Letting Bohannon get 3 shots off at him gets a -1 Star.

And nice seeing Jeff Fahey as the Union Doc in this EP.

The hanging, at the end, was very intense.

As a rivalry / hatred that has festered between these two for the entire series, this was one hell of an ending to it.

Very nice work. 9/10

Warning: Spoilers
I won't write much about this tremendous episode, which confirms that this Tv show is absolutely terrific. But not for all audiences. I won't spoil it either. But be warned that in this episode you will have the most unbearable hanging scene in - I am deadly sure - the whole TV and movie history. Unbearable. So try to avoid the watching of this episode with your entire family at dinner whilst eating the poultry....

A couple seasons late.

Finally the end to a ridiculous rivalry, which seemed uncharacteristic of Bohannon and drew on way too long. I never understood why they kept re-introducing the Gunderson's character when There were so many other interesting plot lines to be explored. Well, at least it's over.

The worst episode by far

Warning: Spoilers
I love this series. And, as always photography, camera, angles, acting, everything is awesome... Except one thing... Which made me give this rating... And that is writing/plot. It is profoundly dumb. I was just waiting for the moment there in the river, hoping they won't do it again. But they did it. And it was too much and too meaningless, despite the characters and their features. It is literally like they had no clue how to fill these 50 minutes and to conclude (for at least two seasons meaningless) rivalry so they just stretched it to the painful end. Of course, being so profoundly dumb, there will always be individuals claiming that it's art, by default, when encountering something meaningless, but it's not, it was a clueless endeavor.

Anyway, kudos for craftmanship again, but it hurt.

Stupid writing!
wyogirl-5801017 May 2024
I'm finished watching this dumb written story. The writers have little to no knowledge or clue about the wildlife in this area or how the seasons work. Anyone, and I mean anyone who lives in the mountain states knows that elk only bugle in the very late summer and early fall during the rut. The breeding season. To have a bugle sound any other time is really stupid and absurd. Also, the story of Thor Gunderson is getting really old. Why hasn't anyone smartened up and killed him off earlier? His character is only for added drama and his ability to manipulate people and everyone else in everything he does is old. Won't be recommending this to anyone.
