This is excellent

Series three is a very strong era in Father Brown's history, and The truth in the wine is one of the best.

It's a very serious story, lacking any sort of nonsense or silliness, it deals with some very serious topics. It boasts a brilliant storyline, with twists and red herrings, it has some really great characters, and of course features the usual glorious production values.

Sheila Reid switches her chair in Benidorm for a chair in Kembleford, and is excellent, as are Daniel Ryan and Emma Cunniffe.

It's a good old fashioned murder mystery, with plenty of suspects to keep you guessing.

Quirky episode, 9/10

Who Do You Think You Are?

Warning: Spoilers
The Truth in the Wine is part of the third season opus of Father Brown. I say opus because it has 15 episodes rather than the usual 10, which meant the writers were really earning their due big time init.

Anyway, Daniel Ryan plays a supporting lead role in this, and I remember him from As Time Goes By.

Also, there's lots of switcheroos in this episode of As Time Goes By, with twists of identities and so forth that may leave Father Brown loyalists gasping.

Anyway, I'm enjoying watching the early years of Father Brown, along with the early years of Magnum, P. I. (the original one) and also Murder, She Wrote and also the final season of Barry.

HIGHLY UNECESSARY TO KILL THE DOG

Warning: Spoilers
I don't care who dies as long as the dog is safe. Episode starts with a murdered dog, why could it not have been a cat?
