Bagh Bandi Khela directed by Pijush Bose is a thriller drama Bengali film released on 19 December, 1975 under the banner of Bishwajit Films. It is one of the best commercial film produced in Bengali Cinema.

The cast of the film did their job very well. But, the person who stole the show the was Uttam Kumar. Many people believe (me too) that this film is Uttam Kumar's best appearance as an antagonist. He was just phenomenal in every scene of this film. Uttam Kumar's character Bhabesh Banerjee is corrupt and has a loose character. He lives in Ranipur. He is involved in unauthorized business, smuggling and immoral trafficking.

Partho Mukherjee as Rajesh Banerjee (Bhabesh Banerjee's Son) did his job wonderfully. Supriya Choudhury as Bibha (Bhabesh's 2nd Wife), Samita Biswas as Kalyani (Bhabesh's 1st Wife) and Mahua Roychoudhury as Dolon Chapa have a short screen time in comparison to Uttam and Partho, but they did their job very nicely.

The film is based on a novel of Prafulla Roy and I mean it, the story of the film is very good or I should sat excellent, but I think it could have been executed more clearly and carefully. The Cinematography of the film is good and was nicely edited.

What I disliked in this film is its ending. It was not clear. The film ended abruptly. Rajesh only wrote the complaint & the police without even doing any investigation went to arrest Bhabesh. It could have been better if they showed us a police investigation scene or a raid at the Bhabesh's brothel.

The music of the film is golden. The songs sung by Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and Manna Dey were very melodious and soulful, but, I felt like the songs were unnecessary. The songs just added some extra time in the running time of the film.

It's a shock to know that this film floped at the box office at that time. Bengali audience were not able to accept their Mahanayak in such a villainous role.
