I don't get the hate against Cyndi Lauper. Bones is a comedy, often a slapstick comedy dusted with a bit of science. Avalon Harmonia is a really good character and I enjoy the episodes in which she appears. You can't take Bones too seriously.

No Thank You

Take a rather unconventional character like Cindy Lauper's Avalon and give them the power to tell you things they shouldn't know. As a loyal follower of the show, I find her character to be tiresome and ridiculous. And for the forensics people to eventually buy into this really detracts from the whole point. Sweets is dead and now she is speaking for him from the grave and finding things in his car and blah blah blah. The real psychic was the one who was being interrogated and couldn't answer anything without help. Aubrey showed him up. The case is of little importance as time is spent chasing ghosts.
Dangerously stupid

Bones is a series normally quite enamored with science. Science has rigorously disproved mediums. Bones has had its' stints with BS in the past, but to have characters pronounce their acceptance of something wholly unscientific, something literally mainly used by scam artists, is not just stupid, but straight up harmful. It is legitimizing harmful behavior to people not versed in the topic and it is not okay.
Even more psychic BS

Cindy Lauper is one of the worst elements of the show. This episode is another example of hack writing that goes against established world building. Although it's not as bad the skull poverty episode. Silver linings huh.
