The Two Gay Geeks saw this film during the Horror Comedy block of films at Horrible Imaginings Film Festival in San Diego. We immediately liked it.

One of the fun aspects of this movie is the use of misdirection. At first we see two people having a conversation, first somewhat stiff, then loosening up to one that relies on movie clichés. It is here that once we think we understand what is going on that the short gives us another surprise right at the end creating a short film filled with giggles at first, and then one good laugh at the end.

The cast is excellent and the setting is quite disarming. A truly well thought out and produced film short.

We had the opportunity of interviewing the filmmaker, Pia Thrasher, after the screening to learn more about her inspiration for the film, the shooting location, and the actual shoot.

Interestingly enough, this is the first film for Pia and we think she did a fabulous job of creating an engaging dark comedy short.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a really written and performed film that featured a number of tells that were in place in effort to quietly clue us in to this story's unseen under-current. I felt that the on screen talent and the pace of the film were as exceptional as this cleverly penned script proved to be.

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

I contacted Pia Thrasher, the writer and one of the stars of this film with the following comments and question. Again, please DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.... Me: "I'd really wondered why your character, "Alex" had been glaring at "Paul" so intensely shortly after she'd arrived in the lounge. Then later I wondered why she seemed to show a great deal of loathing after hearing about the 'idea' of the hit man killing a cat, as well as the wrong people. Of course that all made sense at the end. Question though, would Alex have done this if Paul had looked deflated or shown ANY signs of remorse to Alex after he relayed the fact that he'd killed the wrong people?" Pia: "You got it! Basically, the "appointment" was Alex giving Paul a last chance....and he screwed up by showing no remorse."
