The Making of 'New Year's Evil' (2015)
*** (out of 4)
Another winning documentary from Shout Factory!. This one here clocks in at 37- minutes and features interviews with cinematographer Thomas Ackerman and actors Kip Niven, Grant Crammer and Taaffe O'Connell who discuss the film NEW YEAR'S EVIL. I will admit right here that I'm not a fan of the movie in question but that didn't stop me from being entertained by this documentary. As usual, it's a well-made documentary that covers quite a few aspects of the production, although I will say that it's a tad bit less interesting than some of the others released by the studio. I think all four of the people interviewed are charming and share some interesting stories and that's especially true of Niven who talks about how he got the part as well as a few things that happened on set. One of the best stories is about the voice change in the film and how he used it a couple times once, later in life, his friends were made aware of this picture. Fans of NEW YEAR'S EVIL will certainly want to watch this.
