Good stuff

Great job-a show that is didactic in a cool way. Reminds me of The Wonder Years. Held my attention as an adult. Solid story & character development. Good chemistry with the cast. Pacing was good. Writing was witty. Has a lot of commercial appeal without being overly contrived. Charming for all demographics. Definitely see this being a hit show. I looked it up and saw Dan Reynolds name. Is this THE Dan Reynolds -lead singer of Imagine Dragons? If so, why don't we know this? I'm a huge fan of ID! The song at the end was great. The Outsiders" is a great name for the band. I hope they tour so I can take my nieces & nephews! Reading now about James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins doing the score. This show is rock music's finest with surely some of its newest members!!

Please let us see more shows

I am 17 years old and I thought this show was so well done. The characters represent kids at my school, and I am sure many other schools. There are always popular kids, not so popular kids, and the kids in between. I am that in between kid. I am friends with both, but I know how difficult it is to be an outsider as I see it everyday. I try to always say hello to the not so popular kids, especially the kids who may have some difficulty in school and may even be in a special class. They are people too. They can't help that something is wrong with them or they were born that way, or they just might need a friend. Maybe they are not the "pretty" ones or the smart ones, but it's what is inside that counts. The twins are the in between kids like me. Judd is the one that needs a second chance, and by the looks of it, he is getting one. Love this show. Please.......we need to see more. There are so many possibilities of a great series.

Oh, you like wonderful shows? Look no further...

Get ready to be completely charmed by this amazing show. The writing and direction paired with these amazing young actors is the perfect combination. And the music... I can't get over the fact that the kids are such outstanding musicians -- they play with the hearts and souls of much older performers. This show is legit. I feel like most networks/studios would handle a show about kids starting a garage band in a broad, high gloss manner. There's none of that here. There's not a manufactured or false moment in the entire show (kudos, Amazon). No spoilers here, but there is an adorable cameo that will warm the hearts of many a music fan. It makes me wonder what other rock legend cameos Radness has in their back pocket. I can't recommend this show more highly. 10+

This is not just a kids show. It is a show for the entire family.

A History of Radness has done what I thought would no longer be done with children's television. I have seen so many shows on TV these days geared towards kids that honestly make no sense to me. The shows I grew up with had a purpose, a hidden meaning, lying around in the show. Watching it as a kid, you don't catch it right off. Watching it as you get older, like I did, you find these meanings right off. This show incorporates many things that I have found I enjoy seeing in shows for kids. You have an unlikely group of kids that just don't match in personalities coming together to do something that, in one way or another, they enjoy: making music. In my eyes, that is something that is great. I am happy to say that this is definitely a show that, if it is given the green light, and I hope it is, I will be buying and watching with my nieces.

No other kids TV like it
bryan-5535 July 2015
My kids and I watched this because James Iha had composed it. I already expected something good not only because of Iha but because of Henry Rollins. ( I could take or leave Imagine Dragons but hey... that's the one my kids loved!).

Anyway. I was suitably blown away. I even got my wife to watch it later with me, once the kids had gone to sleep. Then my kids watched it again with their friends.

Look, there's so much to like about this show from the authentic performances, the way it's shot - blending a cinematic feel with the more hand held stuff, to the story itself. And yes - THE MUSIC is great.

I want my kids to watch things that aren't about being famous, popular or pretty. I want real, aspirational stuff. It reminded me a lot of Freaks n Geeks in the way it was so earthy. It's certainly unlike anything else on TV at the moment. Amazon has made a winner here. We are officially captivated and standing by for more episodes

Bravo Amazon

How 4 Amazingly talented kid musicians come together to form their Band
A History of Radness is one of those shows that has the potential to inspire and encourage kids to chase their dream no matter what challenges they may face. It is a show about friendship, about teamwork and most importantly, about not judging people by appearance alone. There are so many kids today that are afraid to just be" their authentic self and they try to change who they are to "fit in" and feel accepted. This show is about embracing who we are and sharing our natural gifts. Thank you AMAZON for airing a show like this and if this pilot gets picked up, it's sure to be a WINNER...These kids are all amazingly talented and my kids and I can't wait to learn more about how the plot develops week after week.... You have die hard fans in this household :)

Excellent

History of Radness was well done and has stellar support.

Henry Rollins did a fantastic job portraying a coach. There is a song written by Hutch Harris. Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons is narrating. James Iha is involved in the project and known for Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle and Tinted Windows.

Actors Marlhy Murphy, Isaak Presley Ceci Balagot and Dalton Cyr are musicians and provide the show credibility. Cast members delivered. Each actor reflects an ownership of characters, very believable.

I am familiar with Dalton Cyr's music. Casting Cyr as lead singer for the band was a stroke of brilliance. His vocals are outstanding. Check-out his song Upside Down.

Suspect that Amazon has planned ahead. Able to have the series on Prime and sell music recorded for the series is a smart move.

Love it!

This show is the viewing experience you wish you could give your children all the time. The main characters are so refreshing and break the typical lead-role stereotypes. I really hope they make more episodes, we are waiting for them eagerly. I love that the actors are real musicians and the way this show is created is such a break from the normal monotony of kids shows. It is so quirky and entertaining we just cant wait for more! So often I find myself questioning the inappropriate messages that these kids shows are conveying and with this show I found myself celebrating the theme and messages. We need shows like this, shows with lead male and females that show kids its OK to be different and its OK for kids to rock out on instruments too!

Well written, well directed, great show!
m_wendy28 June 2015
This show defies that you have to go over the top to entertain and gives the audience real situations that every kid faces at some time or another. The show is incredibly well written with jokes that don't hit you over the head but allow you to get the punchline on your own. The direction is natural and real just like our own kids. Adding Henry Rollins of Black Flag, Bethany Consentino of Best Coast, Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle and Hutch Hutchins from The Thermals to the cast adds to the music credibility of these talented young musicians. This show is a real gem. It not only will appeal to the kids but give parents something to watch with their children.

Beware of the Trolls...
morgan-23524 August 2015
One week ago, this show had a 9.6 rating on IMDb. It had been that high for weeks. Why? So many reasons but mainly because the show is excellent in every phase, Writing, Directing, Acting, Editing, Music. The list goes on.

As of today, the show is at 7.9 and sinking fast. Why this time? It seems because of Amazon's pilot system friends and family of a potentially competing Amazon pilot have spent their last week trying to sabotage this show to trick Amazon Execs into picking their show instead.

Here's the problem with that logic... That other show simply isn't very good. Here's another problem with that plan. Amazon has proved over the last few years to be smarter than your time wasting ploy to cheat the system. You think they haven't noticed a quick and drastic drop in the IMDb rating the very week they're making their decision? You think they're going to reward you for that by putting their money and reputation on the line by picking up your boring show?

Good luck with that.

A History of Radness is excellent
lmurphy-9465415 August 2015
A History of Radness is excellent! The overall production is very professional and entertaining. The story is clever with the right amount of funny and serious dialogue and situations. The casting is right on the mark. The narration is a clever device. The actors are very refreshing and very expressive. They are also talented musicians. The original music is enjoyable and very upbeat. It has appeal to everyone from preteens to grandparents. I observed viewers laughing out loud. After watching the pilot you want to see more. You want to follow the band's success and learn more about the individual characters and their backgrounds. I'm looking forward to more episodes.

Great family show
ndematteo10 July 2015
Watched this pilot show with the kids and we all enjoyed it. I appreciate a good show that entertains and keeps our interest. The characters are so different that it creates interesting interaction between all of them. The twins, the overachiever and the tough kid are a great foundation to build this season and future seasons. It's nice to see a show dealing with real kids and real problems with no crazy slapstick or laugh tracks. Will the overachiever win over the tough kid? Does she wind up at Stanford? Is Jack really OK with not being the lead singer? We all want to know more about the characters and the band and hope to see more shows!

Appeals to wide audience
laurawalitsky12 July 2015
This show is great for a wide range of ages, both male and female, kids and adults. You've got kids from different walks of life coming together and finding common ground in music. The sets are fantastic, the attention to detail, the camera angles varied, characters believable and it ends with the audience knowing, if that was the beginning, there must be more. When you turn off a show and find yourself thinking and wondering about the characters days later, you know there should be more. Hopefully this will get picked up as I truly want to learn more about each child's personal situations. They've got the academically intelligent over achiever, the kids who are trying to fly under the radar in a new town, and the tough kid who is just trying to get through the school experience. I encourage everyone to watch it and see for yourself, you will be impressed and you will want to see more.

Great show for tweens and teens
david-8910920 August 2015
My daughter loved this show. So did I. It had some pretty funny stuff in it but mostly it seemed to capture the feelings that kids have. That's really all I have to say but the website requires ten lines of review so you can stop reading now. It's pretty stupid that this website requires their users to be so long winded. Anyway, I thought Marlhy was believable and the guitar player kid seems pretty cool. I really liked that the cellist was so intent on becoming a bassist. Now I only need to write four more lines for this website to accept my review. Oh, the cameo with Henry Rollins was interesting. How cool is that? A kids' show with Henry Rollins in it! Very cool! That's how cool. Only one more line to go for this review to meet minimum standards. I hope you will like the show and rate it highly, too!

Love this show!
ldematteo10 July 2015
What a great show! I watched it with my daughter and her teenage friends. It kept their attention during the entire show. Not only did they love the show, but they related to it, because this is what happens in real schools with real kids. Whether you are popular or an outsider, this show proves that you never give up. Expect the unexpected! Maybe that person who you think is not so nice or is different just needs a friend to talk to. Judd is that person. The girls all loved him! Of course he is cute and his voice was awesome, so I am sure that helped! They didn't want the show to end! They even clapped at the end as if they were at the movies! They wanted to see what happens next. I too thought the show was excellent. Not having any adults in the show didn't take away a thing. In fact, it didn't even cross my mind until it was over. These young actors not only have talent, but are able to captivate the attention of not only teenagers, but adults as well. Great job Amazon for a nice family show. We look forward to more!
