- Wait A Minute, Mr. Postman is the dramatic story of Motown and Freddie Gorman, a real postman who wrote hits with and for Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, and Mary Wells, at night, but during the day, he delivered the mail.
- Wait A Minute Mr. Postman, a film based on the life of Freddie Gorman, a remarkably talented young singer/songwriter and producer who was forced to battle for his songwriting credits, and his place at Motown. Freddie with all his talents and charisma was determined and seemingly destined to be a star. His undeniable gifts were recognized by his close friends Marvin Gaye, Berry Gordy, and The Supremes. His talents were also appreciated by MOTOWN's local rival record company that desperately wanted his golden touch. However, Freddie soon found out that pursuing your dreams may come with severe consequences.
The stress of life was catching up to Freddie and unfortunately he got caught in between MOTOWN, Marvin Gaye, and also two of his friends sleeping with Berry Gordy's wife, making things at Motown very challenging for Freddie. Home life was not much better and his stress became unbearable when he quit his stable job at the post office. To add insult to injury, his once supportive loving wife inherited his stress and burdens. She was caught between the man she loved and just married, and his damn dream of becoming a household name.
After years of sacrificing and being loyal to MOTOWN, he returned back to where he started; the POST OFFICE. One particular day, one of his co-worker's recognized him and started rumors about this mysterious mail carrier. Once PEOPLE magazine found out about this gifted and talented mailman, FREDDIE GORMAN finally got his much deserved recognition and became a household name. It took 27 years for Gorman to be acknowledged for his musical achievements, and co-writing MOTOWN's first #1 pop hit, Please Mr. Postman. The ironic thing was, he was a mailman when he wrote this universal mega-hit.
Freddie Gorman, truly delivered mail by day, and MOTOWN hits by night!!!
