- To determine who is the bravest, Yakari and Buffalo Seed turn to the wise Restful Rock's aid who encourages them to undertake a special test of valour. But is there enough time for a single person to succeed in such an important mission?
- Sioux knave buddies Yakari and Little Big-Shot are eager to prove themselves braves, no longer mere 'papoose' (children). The chief-medicine-man sets them a quest: bringing him a mountain crystal, a single snake scale and an eagle feather, before nightfall. The three things must be gathered from different, distant zones: mountains, desert and forest. The boys rush off separately and do well, but neither has time to gather all three, yet that's part of the chief's comforting conclusion.—KGF Vissers
- Despite Rainbow's help and unable to decide, Yakari and Buffalo Seed turn to the wise Restful Rock's aid to determine which one of them is the strongest and bravest. To indulge the boys' curiosity, the respectful man encourages them to undertake a special test of valour, during which the candidates must provide by the end of the day three items: a translucent crystal from the high mountains, a whole rattle-snake skin from the ravine, and finally, a pheasant's soft feather. But is there enough time for a single person to succeed in such an important mission?—Nick Riganas
