  Mona Vanderwaal : Unbelievable. I genuinely do something good, and I end up paying for it. Because of the leak, the Phillips team have gone through everything with a fine-toothed comb. My gift of your Mom's medical records was discovered. I've been fired, my credibility is shot, my future jeopardized. • Peter Hastings : [Spencer just came downstairs]  Nice to see how much you take our little chat to heart.

  Spencer Hastings : What?

  Peter Hastings : [grunts]  Not less than twenty-four hours after my request, Caleb's in the house.

  Peter Hastings : Spence, listen. I know... I know how painful this is. And maybe Caleb had good intentions. But his actions prove that he doesn't have the same value system as this family.

  Spencer Hastings : Oh, my God! Can you really look at me and say that with a straight face? You are protecting her! She killed someone, and you shuttle her off to Europe? What kind of value system is that?

  Peter Hastings : She didn't kill anyone. She was being blackmailed.

  Spencer Hastings : What are you talking about?

  Peter Hastings : [sighs]  Right before Charlotte's hearing, your sister started getting threatening messages. Someone claimed to have her on tape confessing to burying Bethany.

  Spencer Hastings : That can't be true, Dad.

  Peter Hastings : She was told to drop money off at some disclosed location, or the video would be released. That's why she came back to Rosewood in secret.

  Spencer Hastings : Who was blackmailing her?

  Peter Hastings : She doesn't know. But she dropped off the money, and she hoped everything would go away. Then Charlotte turned up dead.

  Spencer Hastings : [stammers]  Okay. So then, why flee? You said she had nothing to do with it.

  Peter Hastings : She got spooked, Spence.

  Spencer Hastings : Why didn't you tell her to go to the police?

  Peter Hastings : [shakes his head]  I was scared. Okay, scared that, like you, they would think she was guilty of more than just being...

• Aria Montgomery : Blackmailed? We really believe that?

  Emily Fields : Well, even if it's true, isn't that more reason Melissa would have wanted Charlotte dead?

  Aria Montgomery : Yeah, but Charlotte was still in lockdown when Melissa made her first payment.

  Emily Fields : So what are you saying?

  Spencer Hastings : So the person threatening us is probably the same person who was blackmailing my sister.

  Hanna Marin : I don't think that it was Melissa who borrowed that SUV. I mean, I looked at the pictures. One look at that crowd, and her argyle socks would have blown off.

  Emily Fields : Which leaves us with nothing.

  Aria Montgomery : I don't know. There's the eyewitness report.

  Emily Fields : A hot brunette with a cheesy key-chain? That's like half this party.

• Aria Montgomery : [re Mona at bridal shower]  Why is she here? I thought you two had it out at The Brew.

  Emily Fields : She brought a gift.

  Spencer Hastings : Yeah, and an axe to grind.

• Spencer Hastings : Caleb doesn't know that I'm here.

  Toby Cavanaugh : If you're gonna try and get me...

  Toby Cavanaugh : [softly:]  What?

  Spencer Hastings : Whoever this is, thinks that we know who killed Charlotte, and so they're trying to make our lives miserable because of it. And I'm really sorry, but Yvonne was just collateral damage. And Caleb didn't want to tell you, because he didn't wanna put you at risk.

  Toby Cavanaugh : [nods]  Thank you for telling me.

  [as Spencer looks down:] 

  Toby Cavanaugh : How are you? Are you okay?

  Spencer Hastings : Yeah, I'm okay. I just, um... I really couldn't have you thinking that I would ever judge Yvonne... for making that choice... Not after... you and I... almost had to make that choice.
