Total animal III is an experimental audiovisual creation, digitally enhanced and musically intense. The space is timeless, dark, misshapen and translucid. Submerged beings plasticized with sensual vibrations are breaking under destructive sounds. These creatures clot together in their oleaginous universe all the way to total annihilation.
Plastic waste is accumulating in our oceans, from the surface to the darkest depths.
Total Animal III is an experimental short film, conceived to make the audience feel as if they are suffocating in the coagulating bodily fluids of these plastic-imbued beings. The film portrays mummified and disturbingly sensual creatures. They reawaken as if possessed by a mysterious water force and begin a primitive tribal dance. Flooding the void, these plasticized beings come together, fuse into one, dematerialize and dissolve.
Our plastic waste is recycled as ephemeral creatures.
These lacerated female figures symbolically reflect our mistreated, polluted and despised oceans. The film depicts the vital and destructive energy of our environment.
Total Animal III is a visual and poetic metaphor, emanating a somber atmosphere inspired by experiences diving in the Caribbean; there one feels beguiled by the depths, just like the waste colonizing our seas.
This digital work is a result of research combining physical expression, the plasticity of the body, video encrustation and electro acoustic music. A hemispheric studio enabled me to achieve 360° shooting angles.
