"Love Is a Four Letter Word: Worth Seven Points" is a 5-minute short film from last year (2015) directed by Tim Beckmann and John Schwab and I find it a bit surprising such a short film has several directors. Anyway, these two have acted for the most part in the past and direction is not their most experienced area probably. But it is not a problem as these short films are usually about the script and, to a lesser extent, the performances. The latter come from Gemma Chan and Ed Stoppard, a pair of actors probably more known than that you would expect them in here. Sadly the story does not really let them shine. A couple apparently unhappy with their relationship keep insulting one another during a game of Scrabble. There is no dialogue in here, but you still need to understand English to understand the words on the Scrabble board. Unfortunately I must say that even if the premise and general idea weren't bad the film gets repetitive fairly quickly and the ending is also nothing that makes a difference at all or justifies spending five minutes on this one. It's a wasted opportunity and I give it a thumbs-down. Not a failure, but also not a good watch. And finally, the title is really really clumsy and bad.
