After the Southern Gothic thriller elements of 2017’s The Beguiled and the broad rom-com antics of 2020’s On the Rocks, which saw Sofia Coppola departing slightly from the aesthetic territory that she’d staked so forcefully in her earlier work, Priscilla finds the filmmaker firmly back in her wheelhouse. Based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 biography Elvis and Me, Coppola’s latest is another impossibly photogenic tale of fame, solitude, material wealth, and female desire in a world that often contrives to deny its existence. In conjunction with the film’s release, we ranked all of Coppola’s features to date. David Robb

A long time ago, Meat Loaf would do anything to get his idea for a relationship game show off the ground, but now it’s finally happening.
The iconic rock star is set to executive produce a show called “I’d Do Anything for Love…But I Won’t Do That,” which is based on his 1993 hit ballad of the same name and is currently being shopped around to networks in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia.
During the ITV Studios Formats Festival, Meat Loaf appeared briefly via video to pitch the wacky format as part relationship show, part rock concert, and to reveal jokingly that the concept behind it even pre-dates the song.

The film follows teacher Thomas Miller (Izzard) who has taken a last-minute and controversial role teaching English to the daughters of high-ranking Nazis at the Augusta-Victoria College, Bexhill-on-Sea – a finishing school on the south coast of England.
Under the watchful eye of their headmistress Miss Rocholl (Dench), and her devout assistant Ilse Keller (Carla Juri), the girls practice their English and learn how to represent the ideal of German womanhood.

This June, E! turns 30! To celebrate we're looking back at the most monumental moments in pop culture. From Pretty Wild to pretty mild! That is a quick summary of Alexis Neiers and her family's journey since their E! reality series Pretty Wild aired 10 years ago, running for one season in 2010. The show chronicled Alexis, her sister Gabby Neiers and close friend Tess Taylor attempting to make their way into the Hollywood scene, led by their mom, Andrea Arlington. But what was supposed to be a docu-series about the girls' rise to fame ended up becoming a completely different show after Alexis, then 18, was arrested during the first episode for her involvement in the "Bling Ring"...

There are a lot of classic ingredients that go into a banana split. So it seems appropriate that “Banana Split” includes all the tasty components of a good, fun, soulfully smart summer-after-senior-year teen flick. It’s got sharp-tongued dialogue and fresh appealing actors who know just how to deliver it. It’s got an anthropological eye for youth culture, with its perpetually evolving fashions and habits and pop references. It nods to the mythology of John Hughes — in fact, it opens with deadpan-cynical April (Hannah Marks) getting hit on by dreamboat Nick (Dylan Sprouse), who looks like if-Brad-Pitt-and-Leonardo-dicaprio-had-a-baby with long blond ’90s Hanson brothers hair, the two high schoolers wasting no time before they make out in a diner booth, which leads to a love montage, encounters with a goofy stoner third-wheel friend, a first fight and, of course, the senior prom. And that’s all in the movie’s first five minutes.

Woods shared what he described as an email exchange with Gersh talent agent Ken Kaplan, who Woods called “a political liberal.” Woods posted a screenshot of Kaplan’s email, which reads, “It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. Mallrats 2 - Aka Mallbrats - is no longer heading to cinemas. Instead, it'll be a 10-part TV show...
You may have seen this slice of news over the weekend, but it still seems worthy of discussion. Kevin Smith’s planned sequel to Mallrats is no longer destined for cinemas. Instead, it’ll be a ten episode TV series.
“We started reconfiguring the idea of doing Mallrats not as a film but as a series, and Universal and I are just about to close our deal to do Mallrats the series,” Smith revealed during an interview on Philadelphia’s Wmmr radio station.
He added: “Then we take it out into the world and find a home for it. So, instead of doing a Mallrats movie, I’m going to do 10 episodes of a Mallrats series.”
Smith headed to Twitter shortly afterwards to confirm the news, and also hinted that his directorial gig on The Flash season 2 played a part in this reconfiguration of Mallrats 2...

Apparently, Philadelphia’s Exton Square Mall is the planned location for the series’ shoot. First, though, Smith and Universal must find a network to sign up as the broadcaster.
Smith’s Mallrats 2 movie script was previously going by the title Mallbrats. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s still the title when the project reaches our telly screens.
In other Kevin Smith news, the writer-director has also expressed an interest in directing either Daredevil or The Defenders for Marvel Studios/Netflix.

Let's try to cover everything we haven't mentioned lately (whew). The biggest and most obvious is that Sofia Coppola, whose plans to follow up Bling Ring with a live action Little Mermaid are no more, is now supposedly working on a remake of the Clint Eastwood romantic drama The Beguiled (1971). The film will star two darlings of Tfe Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst. Plus Elle Fanning so Coppola already sold all the tickets to our crowd. The Clint role is as yet uncast. They're said to be looking for a 'Chris Pratt' type but what this surely calls for is a watch of the original film to familiarize ourselves.
Let's do it together shall we? It's available on Amazon and iTunes so let's all watch it by April 8th or so and we'll discuss. Deal?
