Dated but Inspiring
mikeandsabrina17 June 2019
I have been following Brother Tommy since 2013, and I can say this unequivocally: despite the DELIVERY of his message, his goal to assist in the change of black people, especially the women, is thoroughly documented in this film.

Granted it took him 5 years to get it out, the information and commentary are perfect for today. It takes a special individual to go cross country and observe the world we're currently residing in and how the destruction of the nuclear family has taken its toll on America. I encourage you to watch this with objective eyes and, if you have children, have a family discussion about "parental roles and responsibilities" because I believe it's an area couples overlook when raising children.

And to the trolls: trashing a film due to your dislike for its creator makes you look weak. Celebrate the accomplishment this man did, without "Hollywood" cash/production team, or just ignore it and move on.

Very well done documentary about the importance of father's in the household. The movie features many different perspectives from celebrities to pastors and everyday people. Listen to stories and advice from a brilliant man who only wants to make his community better.

Great documentary! It really hits home!

I've watched this twice today, the issues that are brought up should be taken more serious by us all. Fatherlessness is a very serious problem, as shown by all the trolls making false comments in this section. It's obvious they're the results of NOT having fathers in their lives!

Perfect Timing! Father's Day
djjustjayok17 June 2019
I had no doubt that this film was gonna be great, and it still exceeded my expectations. I don't wanna spoil it, but there were so many moments that stood out. Listening to Tommy speak while walking with the cameraman was poignant. Everybody that spoke gave such deep details to their personal experiences. We are in this together America 🇺🇸

Eye opening, and a must watch
jdglebreton17 June 2019
It's interesting to see the impact of lack of fathers, and the importance of men. It's something that isn't talked about alot or thought about today, and I like the different experiences of the people in these mini interviews. I honestly learned alot and advise everyone to watch this documentary. It isn't the best looking documentary but the message is eye opening and for that I give it a 10 out of 10

Absolutely Brilliant
vchanoy17 June 2019
This was a fantastic film and is well worth the time to watch and share. I appreciate the initiative Mr.Sotomayor took by first acknowledging the problem of fatherlessness, bad parenting and the role the U.S government plays in continuing the cycle and getting this message out into the world. I will continue to support by following his message as I have for the last 6 years. His content has something for just about everyone and if you grew up without a father or even a mother or an overall toxic family I strongly recommend looking for his content a listing with open ears.

I'd give 0 stars if I could.
npdorvilus25 June 2019
This documentary was an utter disappointment and waste of time, I can't believe I spent $100 on this scam. There is absolutely no way this documentary took Tommy Sotomayor 5 years and over $10,000 to make. The production quality of this movie felt like he pieced it together over a weekend. For example, he's literally interviewing random people at fast food restaurants like White Castle about their opinion on the trend of single parent households in America, and it's pathetically obvious he bought the customers some sliders before bugging them by their irritated body language and lazy answers. There are no scholars or anything of the like to be seen in this film.

Also, I did some research into Tommy Sotomayor after viewing this horrible documentary and I discovered he has several children himself who he left behind. He has a son, in his twenties who is vocal about the effect Tommy leaving the household and betraying his mother felt. This is disgusting and I will be requesting a refund.

DO NOT BUY THIS FILM!

Shockingly Accurate
PrettyILL3 July 2019
Initially when I watched the documentary, I felt as though the discussion of a fatherless America was a bit one sided. After watching the documentary in its entirety, I understood that the documentary was from the vantage point of Tommy. It was well put and moving. There are a few other important elements I wish the documentary would have addressed but overall great body of work.

The results of fatherless homes cannot be ignored or denied
DBDenavo16 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A film that is needed and should be shown in schools and churches to our our youth today. The normalization of fatherless homes has become an epidemic in the black community. This film sheds light on the issues of being raised without a father and the lack of men in family's. I urge the black youth today to watch this and break the cycle.

Amazing Movie!!!!!
blkjoker17 June 2019
Just as expected the long awaited movie A Fatherless America came out and it was a smashing hit. Unlike the troll comments that have flooded this review section, the movie has brought a thought provoking and honest view on the state of the black community. To the trolls get a life and stop blocking an honest man trying to spread truth.

Great docu-film
sentraracr17 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Disregard the trolls giving it 1 star. They are all brand new accounts w/ no other reviews. Tommy has certain sworn enemies and they will stop at nothing to see him fail. I doubt they actually watched it. I did watch it the day it came out and can say that it's a great film and worth watching. It goes into detail and provides different prospectives from a diverse group of people being interviewed. The 1 and only thing I will agree w/ the trolls is I don't understand why this took 4+ years to produce. That's it.

This film provides facts that should have everyone thinking what's going on, why are we allowing this to happen in the US in 2019. These statistics seem like something you would see in a third world African or central American country. The docu-film also touches on the disparities in our legal system which puts a huge burden on men, and makes it harder for them to succeed in life. Men are not starting at 0 but in the negative or "in the red" and have to do so much b4 they can even reach 0, and than have to keep going from there to make for themselves. It's the equivalent to giving someone a head start in a race. Yes, there are minor things I would adjust if I was the director such as maybe spending more time on certain people in the film vs others but it's not a huge deal. Or putting more time with the written text on screen. Or maybe dividing it into sections or chapters, each focusing on a main subject or theme. Lastly, maybe focusing slightly more on prisons and showing real court footage. As you can tell these are all minor tweaks and just my own opinion, you may disagree and are entitled to.

All in all I would give this a 9.65 / 10

A poor excuse of a documentary
mrcarlb17 June 2019
I contributed money for this "documentary"/"movie" years ago and I am highly disappointed with the outcome.Mr "Sotomayor" could have just filmed this "movie" on a iPhone. I was going to ask for my money back but I figured it would be a lost cause. Tommy makes multiple YouTube videos degrading African American men & women,he also puts other youtubers addresses out to the public and has his moderaters in his chatroom harass them and their families if they critique one of his videos. The documentary was poorly edited and shot sloppy my nephew in high school could have done a better job editing this movie. I will never donate another penny to Mr Sotomayor he is a foul human being.

An important documentary

Great insights of how the fatherlessness creates problems for people individually and for the society in general. An important subject which needs to be talked about a lot more in homes, schools & in media.

This Conversation is Needed
TheWorldOfDeuce17 June 2019
This film brings up an issue that is not currently being addressed in America. Hopefully this conversation can continue On a larger scale after this. Tommy does a great job delivering facts to back up his argument. I definitely recommend this film to anyone. My only wish is that he could have gotten this out faster, but being that he is a solo independent film maker, he did a fine job. Even with a limited budget he had star power from folks like Adina Howard and Tami Roman to add credibility to the topic.

I cried because this was a reality for men. There are many that will kill the messenger instead of receiving the message. Truth is a bitter pill. I loved it.
