The Best and Earliest Conscious Music Video
nafps21 October 2022
Bwfore this, music videos were either experimental like Bowie's Ashes to Ashes or self indulgent posing as cool eg literally every single pop, new wave, new romantic, synthpop, and dance pop act on mtv, accurately called empty vee.

This video cut together scenes of protest and repression in apartheid South Africa with the many artists protesting it, from Run DMC to Grandmaster Melle Mel to Lou Reed to Eddie Kendricks to Bruce Springstein to Stiv Bators to Jeoy Ramone. Rappers, punk rockers, soul singers, you name it, anyone dedicated to a good cause.

Which means all the self serving types in Band Aid etc aren't there. Which is a relief.
