Sicily is really a fascinating island: a great history (Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans), beautiful landscapes (the Mount Etna, the Aegadian Islands, the towns with their palaces, churches, Grekm and Roman monuments) and also the countryside with the olive trees, vineyards or vegetables fields.
I enjoyed very much the zoom about the Buffa family in Palermo (the family business, the father figure, the mother figures).
Then this pleasant zoom about the seduction in Sicily (the Vespa drivers, the compliments, the comments of Marco ,the humorist and Emmanuele Bouhours).
Sicily is living also a rebirth and the Sicilian people want to change the image of their island (Piergiorgio Di Cara, Maria Rosa Piranio of the Corleone dialogos or the Association "Addio Pizzo").
I enjoyed also the zoom about the Arabic time in Sicily: Mazara del valo with its casbah, Giulia Bonnano, the student orf architecture, Giana Guaiana , the singer, the distribution of the grounds and the introduction of crops such as the almonds, the pistachios, the zuchinis, the saffron, the.pomegranates or the citrus fruits. During their 200 years occupations the Arabs build great water supply systems.
I appreciate also the zoom about Catania and the Etna: every day the people of Catania look at the Etna volcano: the town has been distroyed by a lava flow in 1689 but was rebuilt, mainly with volcanic stones (its black aspect). The Catania have taken advantages of the snows of the Etna to create the granita (snow and lemon juice): on the slopes of the volcano Sebastiano Costa is growing grapes (red wine), in other places the farmers grow pistachios or citrus fruits. Also young people like Massimo Scalia (Etna tribe) and Giuseppe di Stefano are showing the volcano to the tourists.
I appreciate also the zoom about Enzo Maiorca and his daughter Patrizia who practice free diving: Enzo was the first man to reach the depth of 100 meters in free diving.
I enjoyed very much the encounters of Sophie with Chiara Utro and Tindara Agnello in Palermo (the Addio Pizzo association), with Giovanni Bttista Scaduo and Salvatore Meccio (Palazzo dei Normanni), with Stefano and Sergio Lentile (the family olive tree plantation), with Vitto Vaccaro and Fausto Gobbo in Marettino , with Angelo Bemivegna (Cucina a la Trapanese),with Maurizio Spinello who is giving a new life to his village of Santa Rita, with Giula Bacilliere (Sophiue's guide in Taormina and on the Etna) and with Marco Monforte, the potter of Taormina: very nice encounters with very nice Sicilian men and women.
