As Baphomet opens, a Satanic cult sacrifices a naked woman while their leader Henrik Brandr promises soon they won’t have to hide in the shadows. It’s an ominous opening, only slightly marred by Brandr seeming to pronounce the ruler of Hell’s name as “Satin”.
Whatever the cult has planned involves a ranch owned by Jacob Richardson and his wife Elena (Ivy Opdyke; Hide the Monster). Brandr sends his son Askel to convince them to sell. He doesn’t manage that, but a picture of their pregnant daughter Rebecca (Rebecca Weaver) and her husband Mark (Matthan Harris) catches his eye.

For once, a convoluted backstory that made sense and was interesting.
Russian's interference in both Polish politics and American hate groups grounded Madam Secretary Season 5 Episode 2. It also set up the first major arc for the season.
This won't be the first time that Russia has been cast as the big bad of a season, but that's not surprising considering that the writing staff tries to keep things true to life.
And the Russians have a history as bad actors on the world stage. The reference to bot farms was torn from the headlines of the past two years. There's a lot more for the writer's room to draw on.
The poisoning of a British man, the Panama papers, aligning with Assad in Syria, the seizing of Crimea, shooting down airliners, the unsubstantiated but probable blackmailing of foreign leaders...Russia is a veritable feast of storylines.

As the discourse heats up around who will and should be the next James Bond, the last actor to surrender the title to a fresh face is sharing his thoughts over just what’s missing from the spy franchise’s recent installments.
Pierce Brosnan’s 4-film run in the role, from 1995’s Goldeneye to 2002’s Die Another Day, isn’t the most fondly remembered era for the series, with the latter often being singled out as a jump-the-shark moment for the property, necessitating the gritty makeover of 2006’s Casino Royale. In a recent interview with The Rake, the Mamma Mia! star reflected on this notable tonal shift between his last Bond outing and Daniel Craig’s debut, saying:
“I knew there had been a seismic shift, and little did I know I was going to be part of that in the curtain falling on my contract. I knew they had to make adjustments.

Hard to believe it, but the summer season is officially upon us! And if you’re like us and are looking for a reason (or two) to escape the sun and unforgiving heat in the coming weeks, June has some excellent films arriving on various digital and VOD platforms that should keep you entertained while at home (and away from all that pesky sunlight and those bloodthirsty mosquitoes).

June 12th features a trifecta of terror—Night of the Virgin, The Mimic, and The Jurassic Games, and June 15th sees the release of the psychological thriller Inheritance, which debuted last year at 2017's Dances with Films.
