During production of the second season, the two new inquisitors were only referred to as 'Female Inquisitor' and 'Male Inquisitor' in the scripts. The introduction of a fourth member of their order in the finale served to finally established a naming convention for them, identifying the female as the Seventh Sister, the male as the Fifth Brother and the latest one as the Eighth Brother.
The Malachor Sith temple features ancient writing developed by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie for the temple on Yavin IV in the 1995 book "The Illustrated Star Wars Universe". The petrified bodies on Malachor are inspired by the impressions of figures left behind after the volcanic eruptions that devastated ancient Pompeii.
Malachor played a key role in the Knights of the Old Republic computer games. It was the location of the final battle between the Jedi and Mandalorian armies in the Mandalorian War and the use of a super weapon by the Jedi resulted in almost all survivors falling to the dark side and the start of the Jedi Civil War.
Maul is still wearing a stud in his left ear. When he was cast in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), actor Ray Park wore this item of jewelry and it was incorporated into Darth Maul's makeup.
