Pleasant viewing for doggy lovers.

I watched "How Dogs Got Their Shapes" because just before this, I watched a rather gruesome and violent film....and I wanted something to change my mood. This turned out to be a pretty good answer to this, as watching a variety of doggies and learning about the adaptive reasons and benefits for their various sizes, shapes and other physical characteristics was a nice change of pace. Overall, an enjoyable show. My only complaint is that the program was so short, as it easily could have been explanded to include more breeds.

Almost lost me in the first couple minutes, but turned out to be a pretty good documentary.

Within the first minute or two the narrator mentioned the widespread myth about domestic dogs being directly descended from gray wolves. That belief was disproven using DNA evidence in 2014, two years before this documentary came out. I decided to keep watching, but remain skeptical. However, I didn't catch any other instances of misinformation, and it ended up being an interesting documentary.

Loved this

Very good to watch loved it all even though they didn't talk about every species that is not practical for a documentary as they need to keep you interested which these did. However I did notice they got one fact wrong about the dalmatian and there spots as the spots do have a purpose from when they were a working dog running alongside horse and cart

Not great

This didn't discuss golden retrievers even once. A missed opportunity to talk about golden retrievers being bred for their soft mouths. What a waste of an hour. If I could give zero stars i would.

Border Collies

Big miss. My Border Collie loves this show. He even barks at his favorites each time. But sadly his breed is not mentioned. Maybe we will find a show for the smartest dog breeds on the planet. We have owned several breeds throughout my lifetime. At home growing up.... As a single.... And with my own family. I have grown to love quite a few breeds, but seriously the Border Collie has been my favorite. On all points. We were worried about getting one because I read they need a lot of exercise/outdoors. And I am not that athletic. But what it should say is they need to be stimulated. There is not a dog puzzle he cannot solve. He has his favorite athlete and watches sports from beginning to end. He plays frisbee, soccer, volleyball, football, and yes his favorite basketball. We got him a toddler size hoop to start. He is fun, alert, super smart, and a great companion. He herds the geese by our lake. But this breed doesn't require a person of high energy. Just a person that stimulates him. A good amount of toys and puzzles will keep him busy. I can throw balls and frisbees from my deck all day for him. For exercise we also do parks/dog parks. Wish this show would have mentioned the Collie. But I guess it was not a show about the their brains! Although they are quite skilled with agility and can jump super high to catch a frisbee.

It doesn't give the answer.

Warning: Spoilers
This documentary doesn't give any explanation how the dogs get their shapes, the only information provided is that all the dogs are the related to the wolfs. It worth to watch only for the cute dogs that appears in the video.

If you want to view the documentary you will receive some information about different breeds of dogs.

This video is more a comparation between breeds of dogs and where the different breeds are the best.

I think the is a bad choose of the documentary name, because they could named "Difference between breeds of the dogs" and it was just fine.

If you want to find out How dog get their shapes this documentary is not the answer.
