- Despite her hesitance if only because she feels she may be a rebound from Anna, Rebecca, with Paula's encouragement, allows herself to be in a relationship with Josh again, where the commitment on Josh's side is what she would have liked when they were in their previous relationship. The strength of that commitment not only is in wanting to spend as much time with Rebecca as possible - which includes both of them ditching work to spend time together - but presenting themselves as a couple to his parents. Things hit a bit of a roadblock when Rebecca learns that Darryl has sold half of the company to the Plimptons, a high powered Los Angeles based law family who are looking to expand their clientele into the San Gabriel Valley. The new co-boss is Nathaniel Plimpton, a narcissistic, superficially "perfect" specimen with a cutthroat mentality, much like a male version of New York Rebecca. As he was the type of person she was trying to get away from in New York and as the company looks to be heading into the direction of the law firm she left in New York, Rebecca contemplates quitting,... until she learns that Nathaniel is going to fire some people in the office because of a revenue shortfall, he being able to do so without Darryl's OK because of Darryl unwittingly allowing Nathaniel to outmaneuver him in the sale. To protect her friends and coworkers, especially Paula who needs to keep her job in light of her separation from Scott, Rebecca decides to stay with the company to find those new clients to make up the shortfall, she using tactics that are not beneath Nathaniel or the old Rebecca. What Rebecca does not want to do is let anyone else in the office know about Nathaniel's plans in not wanting to worry any of them. Rebecca does however enlist Paula's help with a specific task, Paula who may have to take one for the team in reaching the end goal. What Rebecca does not expect is that in battling Nathaniel, he will have an indirect affect on her and Josh's relationship, Nathaniel who considers Josh a buff but mindless West Covinan far beneath himself.—Huggo
