- Title Card: The tsunami on December 26th 2004 claimed an estimated 227,073 lives across twelve countries. 176,300 bodies were recovered. Two years later 50,773 people are still missing, presumed deceased. It is estimated that one third of the victims were children. A tsunami early warning system is now being set up in Thailand. Thousands of survivors are still trying to rebuild their homes and their lives and this process will continue for many years to come.
- Kathy Graham: There's crates of supplies just sitting in a flight hangar because the NGOs are still in a meeting to arrange a meeting about a meeting...
- Tony Whittaker: I used to flatter myself that I was actually doing something for this country... But really, I'm just, loitering... like an uncomfortable host at a party...

- Kathy Graham: [while driving] Hope. It's all I've got. Believing in something that can't be proven but that you're willing to trust is there. It's what keeps me safe at night.
- Susie Carter: What, even after this?
- Kathy Graham: Yeah, even after this.

- Kathy Graham: Buddhists believe that you're only on this planet for a short life, and that you have to make the best of it... And if you don't, or can't, then... there's always another life.
- Tony Whittaker: [to press] While no one will forget what they've seen, over the last six days, out of tragedy has come the most astonishing resilience and strength. The overwhelming love and care, of the many volunteers who have been brought together by this, sequence of events, and the, extraordinary selflessness, and compassion shown by the people of Thailand, to perfect strangers has been very, very humbling. I'm proud to have been a part of this... None of us will go home the same.
