Northern neighbour review

For international audience this film may require some pre-understanding of Latvia or Baltics ion general as well as general political experienced at the end of 80s at former Eastern Block.

While having the necessary understanding the story itself has a excellent warm retrospect of both of childhood and background changes people went through at this period.

For me this was like journey to my childhood life supported with truly carefully selected authentic requisites.

Latvian movie for Latvia's centennial
OJeykobbs27 August 2018
As stated this movie is intended for "(Latvian) children of all ages / eras" and has received government monetary support which of course has built higher anticipation and expectations around the movie.

In the end there is more than a disappointment because this movie has no story line and no scenario. It's so lazy done that you can take out which should be the cornerstone of this movie the Baltic Way and swap with what ever event and era you like and nothing will change. There are no artistic value and there are no historic value in this movie. All they are doing is trying so hard to play "the good 'ol days" and "beautiful childhood" cards but in the end this is so poor, so lazy and so not intriguing piece of nothing.

This movie is so bad that I'm sad it took away the government monetary support from 15 other movies.

And if you have a chance to choose what to do between watching this movie or how paint is drying, choose the paint. You won't be disappointed.
